Title: need help choosing limit switches
Post by: shootrock on February 19, 2009, 10:57:24 AM
Anyone care to recommend a specific good quality limit switch to use on a Bridgeport type mill?  I don't care to pay a few extra bucks for good quality and reliability.  It seems most of you recommend optical type, but the choices seem endless.  I would greatly appreciate some guidance.

Thanks,
Dave

Opticals are nice and accurate and cheap as well, problem is you will need to keep them shielded from coolant and swarf. Mine are enclosed in boxes and the flag is activated by a sprung shaft that protrudes either side of the box. The ones I use are OPB916B

Honeywell do some nice waterproof switches that are often used on Industrial machines but they are certainly not cheap although I have picked them up on eBay for good prices, I use these on my lathe and the other mill.
