June 6, 2006 G-Rex (G100 or G101) setup:

If the G-Rex is to be used with Mach3 CNC software, please go to www.artofcnc.com and follow the instructions from there.

GeckoMotion setup:

The G-Rex comes with a Rabbit Semiconductor RCM3720 core module flashed with a download manager. The exception is if a G101 was ordered without the RCM3720.

1) Connect a USB cable to the G-Rex and power it on. Windows will next require USB drivers for the G-Rex. See "Windows XP Installation for USB Drivers.pdf" and install the FT245BM VCP drivers. Go to http://www.ftdichip.com/ for other OS USB drivers.

2) Next, see "Firmware Manual.pdf" and follow the USB related instructions. Also see "GeckoMotion Manual 20060206.pdf" for that as well.

3) Now, using your internet browser, access the "G-Rex Download Manager Home Page". If necessary, from "Upload FPGA Configuration" pick "FPGA1 Upload" and select the "top_s50_04B.xsvf" file in the BIN directory.

Next, if necessary, pick "Upload New Firmware" hit "browse" and select the "GM 20060605.bin" file from the same BIN directory.

This will upload and flash the FPGA configuration and GeckoMotion firmware to the G-Rex. The G-Rex already comes flashed with these files. As updates are made to GeckoMotion you may wish to update your G-Rex using these steps.

4) With "G-Rex Tester.exe" open on your PC, load it with "test1.txt" found in the UTILITY folder. Run "test1.txt" to excersize the G-Rex hardware.
