UCCNC  does a fine job rigid tapping and encoder threading for turn (;-) Does perfect guaged threads  Even does Peck tapping LH OR RH and uses BOTH channels of teh encoder plus index ABZ.

It is probably teh EASIEST controller to set up rigid tapping or threading. ALMOST plug and play.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

So why do I need PID again (;-)

Hi Craig, WHY would they want to play in that market ?? Simple because other modern DIY controllers CAN do rigid tapping. It is simply axis following but you do need the 2nd channel of teh encoder to see WHEN teh spindle reverses.
Heck even teh old DOS based controllers were capable of doing it.

What exactly are you hoping to do with teh M99 call?? Teh M99 cal is  a Gcode call to return to teh M98 calling line. It does nothing in a macro as there is nothing to return to. IF you are trying to return to teh Gcode program you would use

Code"M98 Pnnn" where nnn is teh Oword marker you place in teh Gcode program as a return point which is placed on teh line after teh conditional macro call. OR where ever you want to return to in teh gcode

From inside of teh macro you use a M98 Pxx to jump to a Oword in the loaded Gcode. It is a one way jump with NO return.

Loking at teh specs of that PC it talks in teh bious settings about a PCIe port. It may have an internal PCIe port that can be brought out and run as a LPT mode.

Which has nothing to do with teh conversation (;-) Teh function simply reprograms the steps per so that teh  axis will move the distance of the  part circumferance in one revolution.

Same as with a rotary axis in degs. Step/per /360 deg = steps per degree. IF programed as G0 A 360 it will move exactly 360 degrees.

The G107 function when configured to part circumference steps/per / Part Circumference and programmed as G0 A2.111 will move exactly 2.111" at teh surface of the part.
