Try taking the G1 out of the G31 lines, G31 is a feed command and may not like the G1 on the line

General Mach Discussion / Re: Auto Z Probing retract height

Do you have a height offset active, you may need a G49 to cancel it.

Check 'include TLO in G31' in general config.

Or

Are you reading the correct var number, 2002 for Z axis.

What is the pitch of the screws and the ratio of the motor to the screw 1:1 if direct drive.

What step count is set on the drives 1 (200), 1/2 (400), 1/4 (800) etc.

We can then help you work it out.

Slow down the homing speed in homing and limits to 20% or less.

Make sure the initialise string has G21 and NOT G20

G97 (fixed rpm) and G98 (mm/min) may be needed if you have no speed feedback.

If you are using a licence file that came with the board delete it and buy a real one, pirate ones DO NOT WORK SAFELY!

The home switch is no real problem yet.

5200 sounds right for the steps/per based on your hardware.

The measurement can be from anywhere to anywhere if you have a clock/dti then you can use that and do small moves using the MDI screen

If you are working in inches enter some thing like this :- G91 G01 X-.040 F2. and press enter

machine should move 40 thou if you have the range on the clock enter the same command again for a reading without backlash as it should have been taken up the first time.

The home switch should touch and the back off to clear the switch if its not then it could be a setting or a wiring issue.  Make sure when you press the switch by hand that the led lights in the diagnostic screen.

Are you talking about 3D cutting when the machine looses position, if so it could be that the motor tuning on the Z axis needs slowing down or the accel/decel needs upping to stop it loosing position.
