General Mach Discussion / For Wizard Loving Lathe Users

Not everyone goes looking for stuff and its amazing what you can miss.

I have redone the standard lathe screen but without the jumping around on the menus

There are three main screens and i have added a cool feature in that the wizards are now part of the screen set

You can get more details and view pics here http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,13548.0.html

Simon from the MDI line you enter "G28 X0"

Doing G0X0 will take you at full speed the same as "G28 X0"

Only jogging near limits does the machine obey the slow zone

Your issue maybe that you have not set the motor tuning correctly maybe acceleration as the likely cause as either the two lines above you should end at Zero

Hi Hood,

I read his problem differently, in that his machine homes OK

But if he then enters "G0 X0" presumably from the MDI line his machine overshoots.

Maybe he will come back and explain more fully

Works in progress / Three Page Lathe Screen

This is version 22 of my lathe screen

Let me know what you think

Comes with all new graphic buttons for a uniform look

The New Screen zip should be unzipped to the Mach3/bitmaps folder

I have updated the screen set file it had a rogue graphic in a place that i couldn't get to it

I had to go back to a previous version to edit it in the overview page it only showed up if you had screen to fit ticked in general config

Another tip is the MPG flyout screen "TAB" it appears that it doesn't display correctly in that some info is missing but you can drag the left hand edge to show all of that screen. ;D

I have added some further features to the screen along with pictures so you can get the feel of it before installing it then finding you don't like it.

The first pic is the default page the Manual Screen

The second page is the Cycle screen this has two views

A normal toolpath display and a choice of a large toolpath display

Then there is the Diagnostic page which hopefully you won't need

Then there is the Wizards page, just one click away with the added bonus that you can save the code generated via the edit button choose another wizard i have even included the threading wizard so all the Wizards are together

The normal way to get a wizard is six clicks then another six clicks to get another

Simple plain layout that's easily changed

If you like the look you need to copy all the bitmaps from the turnaddons folder and add then to the newscreen folder along with the new button graphic for the wizard these can be added to the main graphic files attached above.

Machscreen Screen Designer / Cool New Feature
« on: December 27, 2009, 08:04:03 AM »
Hi Klaus,

In the top right hand corner is the box displaying the properties.

Would it be possible to add the two figures together so that a dro displays LEFT EDGE + WIDTH & TOP EDGE + HEIGHT

This would then make a total of 6 dro's

Reasoning i position my box at the required top and left edges but i want the box to finish at the screen edge

Maybe it could be that you could fill in the right edge and this would calculate the width etc

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Re: To CV or not to CV
« on: December 24, 2009, 11:41:43 AM »

I would think you don't run a mill very often :)

You think wrong then. ;D

I have never tried to run in exact stop

Phil,
I don't use cv when cutting threads on the lathe ( may affect the pull out and end of thread ). I do use it when cutting a profile as it

RICH

I have tried a couple of threads but just left CV on, it did act weird after though maybe it turns off CV automatically. ???

General Mach Discussion / To CV or not to CV
« on: December 24, 2009, 09:34:10 AM »
That is the question.  ;D

If your running a router at high speed yes you want the CV and the headache settings that go with it.

But if your running a mill/lathe is it a waste of time.

Thoughts anyone ?
