Replacing my old Win XP Advice Please
« on: October 02, 2023, 11:55:42 PM »
Hi,
I run a 3 axis cnc 6040 generic router that I purchased 2nd hand as a package. I need to replace my old Win XP PC but I'm not sure of the best way to go about upgrading. My immediate concern is how I go about altering the old parallel port configuration if I buy a new machine.

Has someone done something similar who'd be prepared to advise please?

Many thanks in advance.

Best Regards

Mike

Hi Mike,

If you use an external Motion Controller then any PC with Windows OS can be used. There are many different motion controllers to choose from but go for one of UK or USA manufacture and avoid anything from China.

I use (on different machines) a Warp9 ESS motion controller and a CNCDrive AXBB-E motion controller. Both have excellent manufacturer’s support and active discussion forums if more information is needed.

Hope this helps.

Tweakie.
