I remember seeing one MANY years ago in a production shop. It reminded me of the robot on Lost In Space." DANGER Will Robinson Danger" With it arms failing about.

First thing in the morning we all chuckled at it BUT at the end of the DAY I was amazed at HOW MUCH WORK it had done. AND it did it 24/7.

Try This

Open"C:/Mach3/DebugLOG.txt" For Append As #1
Print #1,"X: " & Format(GetDro(0),"0000.0000")   &"  Y: " & Format(GetDro(1),"0000.0000")  &"  Z: "  & Format(GetDro(2),"0000.0000")
Close#1
END

That interesting as HERE that script writes it exactly like it is in the DROs same format.

What version are you running?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Time Log-File Macro
« on: December 10, 2012, 08:25:47 PM »
Well I don't know about expert BUT I am persistant and my Wife says Stubborn so maybe that is GOOD?BAD? (;-) . You are in luck I do something similar for plasma.  Try this approach. You will have to add code to the MACROPUMP or IF you do not have one create one. Same with the M1030 macro. The M30 activates the M1030 at file end.

What it all does is this IF the M7 or M8 is active Mach3 will start a timer for the length of time each are active. When the M7/8 functions are shut down Mach3 will retreive the time on the timers and post it to DROS for holding. Each time the M7/8 functions are restarted the timers start again, etc, etc. and the time is added to the holding dros.

At the end of the program when the M30 runs it calls the M1030 macro to transfer the values from the DROs to the FIle . The entry consists of the Date,Time,Filename,Pentime,&KnifeTime. It is written in comma delimited ascii so excell can read it in. Then the Dros are Zeroed and reaady to go again.

********** ADD to the MacroPump. IF you do not have a macropump create one

'Macro for pen/knife cut time

If GetOemLed(12) And Not GetUserLed(2007) Then
   SetTimer(1)
   SetUserLed(2007,1)
   End If
If Not GetOemLed(12) And GetUserLed(2007)   Then
   SetUserDro(2007, (GetUserDro(2007) + GetTimer(1)))
   SetUserLed(2007,0)
   End If
If GetOemLed(13) And GetUserLed(2008) = False Then
   SetTimer(2)
   SetUserLed(2008,1)
   End If
If Not GetOemLed(13) And GetUserLed(2008) Then
   SetUserDro(2008, (GetUserDro(2008) + GetTimer(2)))
   SetUserLed(2008,0)
   End If
End

******** ADD to the M1030 macro. IF you do not have one create one

'M1030 Macro For CutTime Write
Open "C:\Mach3\CutTime.txt" For Append As #1
Print #1, "" &Date &" , " &" " &Time &" , "&" " &Filename &" , " &"PenTime"  &" , " &GetUserDro(2007) &" , "&"KnifeTime" &" , " & GetUserDro(2008)
Close #1
SetUserDro(2007,0)
SetUserDro(2008,0)
End

******** Add to END of the M1030 macro to shut down mach3 and PC****** OPTIONAL (;-)

 DoButton(3)
 Message("...Shuting down MACH3 and PC...")
 DoOEMButton(705)

VB and the development of wizards / Mach3 CB timers()
« on: December 10, 2012, 02:26:11 AM »
Has anyone user the Timer() functions lately. I am getting some strange times from it .

Can someone run this CB code and see what time you get.

SetTimer(10)
Sleep(10000)
MsgBox"" &GetTimer(10)

I should get a time of close to 10 sec BUT I get a return time of .38486666666 secs

Thanks (;-) TP

Chances are it just needs the Port address set correctly. That would be the only thing that could change between PCs that makes it not talk.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Tangent Corner / Re: Compatible PC Combo MoBo
« on: December 09, 2012, 04:56:24 PM »
You may want to cruise over to the linuxCNC site and do a search as THEY have to have a very stable MB to do the realtime work that LinuxCNC does. So that would translate to a very stable mach3 platform as well.

BUT seeing as you are going to use an outside motion controller almost anything stable should work as the MB is just idling most of the time.

NO that is not what I said. It is the relationship ratio between the two, CPU and FSB. It does no good to have a 1000Ghz cpu and a 33mhz FSB. the log jam will be the FSB as far as total ouput speed.

Part of that is the problem I see sometimes where any CB activity tends to jam up a system. AND where sometimes MACH3 runs CB in hyperspeed and skips over things.

ALSO built in graphics are NOT a big problem ALL my machines had "BIG" but they had ample memory and cpu speed to handle it. Where it normall shops up as a [roblem is with older MBs with borderline slow CPU and low mem. The added drain for the graphics killed the process.
Now with full size PCs you have to watch for the manf to add on HELP features that aliow them to fix your puter online. Some of these processes are added to the kernal of windows and you cannot remove them without doing a complete format and reloading of windows WITHOUT the extra processes.  Show up in the Mach3 driver test as BAD interruptions at times.

THEN you have the power saving features such as throttleable CPUs that can vary speed vs load. and those that want to sleep all the time .

I had talked to ART one time about the perfect MB combo for MAch3. He said he could only give info for things he had used personally as there were FAR to many combinations  to try and sort out and by the time you had it sorted everything had changed again so it was pointless and almost impossible to keep track of.

Just a thought or 5, (;-) TP
