Mach4 General Discussion / Re: MACH4 Mcode testing

OK that worked for the simple stuff  one or two lines of Gcode. Have you ever tried running a Sub or Gcode Macro from the Mcode. such as

mc.mcCntlGcodeExecuteWait(inst, "M98 P9020 ");

or

mc.mcCntlGcodeExecuteWait(inst, "G65 P9020 A10 B1.125");

I have an sequential serial number engraving function that works well from a SUB or G65 macro and I am trying to get it to run as a Mcode using the G65 call for inside the Mcode.

TP

The cgode is over 200 lines and uses condition redirection a LOT.

Steve it still does not work even with your code. It tries to run it BUT it only moves about .236" of the first line of Gcode then BLOWS right on past the REST of the Gcode lines and ENDS.

NOW ONLY IF you step though the code in the LUA editor will it complete the Motion. USE RUN and you get the same problem.

You mean this ??    NONE of the Mcodes in the macro DIR  here have that piece of script, I just looked.

 if (mc.mcInEditor() == 1) then
    m100()

Has anyone gotten a NEW Mcode to work properly. I was doing a simple test to see IF I could create a new Mcode.

I tried it this way, AND that errored out in the editor

-- Serial Number Engrave
function m100()
inst=mc.mcGetInstance();
mc.mcCntlSetLastError(inst, 'Serial Number Engrave')
mc.mcCntlGcodeExecute(inst, "G0X10 ");
mc.mcCntlGcodeExecute(inst, "G0X0 ");
end

SO I tried it this way. It will run from the EDITOR if you step though it but not from a M100 call in MACH4.  OR will not run with RUN in the editor.

-- Serial Number Engrave
inst=mc.mcGetInstance();
mc.mcCntlSetLastError(inst, 'Serial Number Engrave')
mc.mcCntlGcodeExecute(inst, "G0X10 ");
mc.mcCntlGcodeExecute(inst, "G0X0 ");

Can we create Mcodes for Mach4 ??

Does anyone have an example that works??

Craigs a LOT of the #vars are set to machine corrds not work coords. Check that out first.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

What you  are preaching is EMC ism.

"IF you want something learn to program it yourself OR talk someone that can to do it to do it for you."

That very idea is why EMC is still dormat today.

That would be like HAAS coming out with a controller that ONLY did the G0,G1,G2,G3 and say if you want anythng else learn to program HAASeze and do it yourself.

Look around at all the OTHER controllers in this class they are all full featured CNC controllers AND provide all the NORMAL cnc functions that operators require to do their job. AND have ALL the buttons in place for you to use.

And notice I did not say DO anything motion controllers.

At this point Mach4 has "possibillties" and that is it.  How much better it becomes depends on HOW refined the Builders finish it out to. It could be another EMC and if you want it learn to program it,  or a new fully featured CNC controller that is ready to sling chips by industry standards.

I know which one I want/need/ will buy. (;-) NOW that is just experience from 35+ years of 10-12 hrs a day standing in front of a CNC machine  making  a living and still working with others to help THEM make a living. Notice I do not sell anything related to CNC. Just offer help for free(;-)

AS to Probing you are seriously miss informed on HOW it needs to work to be PRODUCTIVE. I have been there done that and have the tee shirt ,hat and special underwear with probing on a CNC machine.

I'm not sure who this mysterious "mach tech" is or what you were told - maybe there was a misunderstanding somewhere. If CV couldn't do arcs it would be as much use a as a chocolate tea pot.  ;D

If you're saying you get slowdown on corners etc. then you either have the feed for arcs set lower somehow in SCam, you're turning CV off for arcs somewhere in SCam, your machine doesn't have the acceleration required to maintain your chosen feedrate OR - you have some CV crippling option in effect - e.g. CV distance or feedrate or whatever. You should have NO CV crippling options set in Mach.

I am with Stirling on this one  ;D

It should NOT be the responcibilty of USERS to have to learn LUA in order to create NORMAL CNC machine functions that are not in MAch4 . That is the developers job.

The USERS have enough on their plate just learning the CNC process.

How about a sequencial serial number engraving function. Set a System #var to enter the current S/N.
