First thing to try is increase the pulse width to 5, its on motor tuning page.
If that doesnt work do you have any means of checking the signals coming out the port? A scope would be best but a digital voltmeter (or for that matter an analogue one) will do. What you need to do is remove the cable from the computer and put your meter between your Dir pin and a ground pin and then jog the axis, when you change direction you should see the voltage change between 5v and 0v. repeat that on all dir pins jogging the corresponding axis. You can then do the same for the Step pins but you will probably need the meter on a lower voltage scale, the voltage seen is unimportant, just as long as you see some voltage when you jog and zero when you stop.
If that all checks out ok then put the cable back in and test at the other end of the cable.
