That is basically HOW Torchmate operates. In G0 mode it is torch OFF and everything else is Torch ON.  No real advantage over doing it with M3/5 through the CAM. Does make it harder to read the code from the operators perspective.

What you are looking to do would HAVE to be done through a plugin or internal to Mach3.

To do it from CAM . ALL cams tend to operate that way.

Brian you really should start a NEW subject as to avoid confusing answers. I am with Striling I have used the THC for years with Mach3. I suspect you have other problems.  What controller are you using Mach3 LPT or other ??

Use the standard RefHome feature to find the switch then use a MACRO to inch the drive in the direction of the index mark Use a Do While LOOP to inch the drive untill it sees the index signal.

OK does the Controller plugin bring back the analog  value to a mach3 DRO ?

IF so then it is very simple. Create a Gcode program to do the XY motion across the part to be scanned then at each junction of XY read the XYZ values to a save file.

Gcode is a motion control language in it basci form it doe NOT have logic. It is simple instructural code design to move a machine. It has evolve in some respects as to conditional Gcode . That has a basic logic incorporated.  It has not "EVOLVED" because it does not need to.

Yes Mach3 does subs to a limit. It does have some flaws to it.

IF you will post the working code we can review it and see what you have working.

I have seen somrthing similar to this before and it was a bug in the plugin for the DEVICE (software) Does it do the same thing with a G83 cycle or is it JUST the G81 call?  IF it is JUST the G81 call that causes the problem just don't use the G81 cycle (;-)

Ask the manf to correct the BUG in the plugin software.

Or just convert the machine to a ESS and be done with it. (;-)

Jkovar unless your controller board has an analog input and does A/D conversions you cannot read that type of signal directly in Mach3.

Now if your measure device has a serial output Rs232 or Modbus then you can get the result directly through Rs232 or modbus. Mach3 supports both of those funtions.

You could also use a MODIO to process the Analog signal and talk to Mach3 through modbus . 

Years ago we did a project with a laser range finder and MACH3 we use a MODIO to do the A/D conversion and talk to Mach3. Back then the resolution of the laser device we used was not good enough for fine detail work such as non contact probing .
