I am presuming you are using shortcuts on the desktop to start Mach?
If so then just right click on the one that is not loading what you want and then choose properties then enter the profile you want to open from it into the target line like I mentioned above. Take note of the space before and after the /p
To keep a backup there is no need to install Mach twice, just save your profiles xml file and possibly the macro folder if you have custom macros or have tool tables or offset tables. Other things you may want to backup are your licence, custom screensets and associated images, plugins folder.
Alternatively just browse your drive for the Mach 3 folder, right click and copy then paste the whole folder to a different location on your drive. It is a bit overkill doing that as you are saving a lot of stuff you wont need.
BTW it is often best to backup your xml etc to a location other than on that computer just in case that computers drive dies.
