General Mach Discussion / Re: Make a pipe bender die
« on: October 28, 2017, 05:35:44 PM »
Hi Dave,
would this code work, I don't have a lathe so I can only simulate it.

I used stock 102mm diameter and allowed 1mm facing cut.

Hi,
try unchecking the watchdog timers.

PoKeys / Re: Change Stepper to Servo
« on: October 28, 2017, 04:28:49 AM »
Hi,
you're right steppers lose torque at speed, low inductance units like these lose less than most but still only have a 1/4 of their torque at 1000 rpm, so
about 2Nm or 305 oz.in.

I've found a spec for the largest of the integrated servos from JMC, 180W and 0.57 Nm or 87 oz.in. The servos can temporaily do three to four times their
continuous rated torque but they'll fault out in 20-30 seconds. If you expect to run them in excess of their continuous rating you'll be disappointed.
Quite frankly I doubt 87 oz.in is enough for a substantial machine. If they lag behind because they don't have the torque to maintain the position/velocity
profile of your Gcode trajectory they will try to keep up and either overheat and fault 'over temp' or lag behind the position required and fault 'following error'
Closed loop feedback does not make servos immune from being overloaded and when overloaded they perform just as badly as any other overloaded motor.

Quote
and when its right konfigured the have also much power at low feed rates
wrong...they have 0.57Nm torque from 0 to 3000 rpm, they do not
have more torque when going slow.

You might be advised to get one and try it out before you buy the whole lot.

Hi,
found these on Ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/200W-3000rpm-0-64N-m-NEMA24-Economical-AC-servo-motor-driver-kit-36VDC-1250-line/263174349390?hash=item3d4669e24e:g:vl0AAOSw7ZlZpTq8
which is pretty cheap, note that its only 0.64Nm.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/200w-60mm-0-64Nm-3000rpm-AC-Servo-Motor-drive-kit-absolute-20Bit-AC220V-JMC-CNC/263257457182?hash=item3d4b5e021e:g:jXYAAOSw6b9Z3bjT
This unit is made by the same company that you linked to but these are the real deal AC servo and note the price, $300 plus shipping. And like the
previous model I linked to still only 0.64Nm.

If you want Mitsubishi, Panasonic or Yasakawa double and triple and more those prices and still only 0.64Nm.

I think 130 EUR is highly optimistic or alternately very  very low powered 50 or 100W either way insufficient for a decent size router/mill.

Hi,
M03 should turn the relay on and M05 should turn it off. The same instructions are used to turn a spindle motor on, M03 turns the motor on
clockwise and M05 turns it off.

I rather suspect that the pin you have the relay hooked to is not the same pin that Mach controls.

Can you post your xml file. If you look at the lower right of Mach there is a profile name. If you go to the Mach3 folder with Explorer, find the <profile>.xml
and make a copy renaming it mikeperr.xml.

When replying to this post hit <Additional Options> at the left of the text window and browse to and attach your renamed xml file.

To what pin do you have the relay connected at the moment? Can you sketch a circuit diagram of how you've wired it?

Hi Dave,
2 inch radius or 2 inch diameter?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Motor Output Pins won`t change
« on: October 27, 2017, 05:56:49 PM »
Hi,
I think there is some confusion going on. When Mach starts up it reads a profile and will send signals to the outputs in that profile. If Mach is
sending signals out on your original setting its doing so because that is the profile its read. I think you are inadvertently saving new settings to one
profile but Mach is reading another.

Is this a new installation? If so may I recommend going to the Mach3 folder and deleting ALL your .xml files and starting again. Multiple profiles
is likely to end up in confusion particularly if your new to Mach.

Hi Dave,
sounds more like a CAD/CAM job than a wizard.

I assume you want to turn a semi-circular recess to accommodate the 1/2 inch pipe in the OD of a piece of material?

Hi,
can't think of anything that would prevent you from doing what you've proposed.

When you alter any setting on the Config/Ports and Pins/Motor Outputs page the <Apply> button should become active. Is it? and are you using it?,
<Apply> sends the new data to your <profile>.xml file. I think you'll be required to restart Mach if you wish for the new data to be read, the xml file
is used by Mach on start up.

General Mach Discussion / Re: input signal hotkey & Win 64
« on: October 27, 2017, 04:57:03 PM »
Hi,
just tried the same trick with the Probe input. You can enable it, emulate it and assign a hotkey and it duly activates the Digitize LED on the Diagnostics
screen.

When I MDI a long slow G31 command hitting the hotkey does not stop the movement. Clearly my laptop has no active motion controller and a Probe signal
is meant to activate a response within the motion controller, ergo no action. This was the conclusion of the other thread.
