Load some code then press cycle start it should reset and start running again  Sometime it does and sometime it does not. It wil normally run and stop ok just not reset correctly.

HIYA Mike I cannot get it to fail HERE in that mode no matter WHAT I throw at it. It allways follows the modal state precisely. What I would try NEXT is to recreate teh config file from scratch DO NOT reload a XML backup. Start from scratch and plugin all the numbers by hand. THEN rerun the senario.

I will keep testing here to see IF I can get it to fail in ANY way.

Win10  SHOULD run Mach3 just fine BUT it cannot run the lpt driver. SO it should be fine for what you need to do. Create/simulate/verify gcode and then transfer it to the machine.

Mach3 can run on Win7 32bit and  8.1 32bit. LPT cards are not a problem as you can get them in both PCI and PCIe. So mach3 is FAR from being obsolete or unuseable because of lack of hardware or OS (;-).

OK lets start from teh top. When the Gcode STOPS for the M1 and then you press Cycle Start to resume it restarts in G00 mode and stays there ? It does not even change modes on the very next G1 call ??

You stated earlier than it ran FINE from the keyboard and the problem was when you did it from the pendant. WHICH is it ??

IS this a LPT version or do you run an outside controller ??

HIYA Jim , that does not ring a bell. BUT  anytime you start seeing things disapear or just stop out of the blue SUSPECT a bad memory modual.  Mach3 loads EVERYTHING into main memory to run. AND It is not blessed with a complete error trapping routine that can deal with allerting you to the fact that it occured. You may see this type of thing.

HI Don, Another aspect of the G68 is for plasma/laser support. You have to be able to rotate in XY ( not a problem there) AND allow it to REHOME the Z axis.  Mach3 fails in that respect  .

Mach4 has a great set of bones(good basic foundation) BUT as normal it is the small DETAILS and having all functions completely FINISHED that will make it or break it .

Hi Don, I have a boxfull of probing ideas that I use that could make Mach4 a leader in that area. It just needs a little internal support from Mach4. mach4 is unique in a lot of ways as it HAS to support MANY type of probing from profiling and 3d  to metrics for part verification.

that is a WIDE range of functions BUT it can be done well and efficently  IF the added support is created . Seeing how the code is BEING developed NOW is the time to think about adding it rather than later.

Depending on the WINDOS version . Permission to write to a file can be denied in certain areas.  Try opening Mach4 in Admin mode. to see IF it still happens.

If so CHECK the directory where the save file is stored to see IF it is read only.

It does work OK here.

Hi Don are you refererring to G31 Protected Move mode ? THat is where IF a probe is active and you make moves OTHER than G31( G01 G00,etc) and it trips it will STOP to protect the probe from damage. Over the years the most damage I have seen to probes is from striking something other than what you wanted when they are traveling to the next probe point. (;-) We use to call it the BHBM ( Blind Headed Boobie Move)

That also would be a great addition to Mach4. I have it for Mach3 . We  created a Plugin Protected Mode  version for Mach3 that works well here.

Also dealing with Probes a way to accurately qualify or calibrate the probe is required. You have centerline(XY spindle centerline alignment to probe tip ) and probe tip radius AND probe lost motion(due to switch travel) calibration. 

The Ball and post "can" do ALL 3 at one time

IF you cannot probe accurately this is really no point in probing.
