Title: confused and pissed
Post by: dmills102 on May 10, 2016, 06:05:04 PM
I built a cnc router using nema 23 270oz. steppers and the tb6560 board. I can jog both x and z axis at slow speed but the y axis just vibrates. I even replaced the tb6560 with a new one and the problem is still there. All the axis will move at high speed including the y axis, but it will not jog at low speed. I've tried about every setting there is with no luck. I'm not using micro steps.

Try swapping the cable from the x to the y. Just one end of the cable, this will verify the y motor is good.

Thanks, I'll do that. I was thinking of going with a different system anyhow.

Hi,

Your problem will be mid-band resonance. It occurs at low speed in the range of 2-6rps. You can hear the motors growl and change pitch when it is occuring.

What you need to do is buy a decent stepper drive such as the Gecko G540 4-axis stepper system that I sell. You won't look back.
