Just got to keep it cool. And every material will be different. Also watch out for stress cracking. Can happen
after you are all done and an hour later.

Thanks Vince for the heads up and it is confusing. I usualy do all my turning in diameter mode. When
pieciing them together along with say threading, the threading wiizards are nore geared to diameter,
you can get in trouble quick. At the min a note on each wizard screen saying use radius for all
input values would be helpfull.

I always wanted to try each and every wizard, heck there are only about 60 of them, to see what "quirk"
exists if any.

Keep posting here as i appreciate it.

Vince,
Originaly just a lock for the mill, but then they found out that it worked for taking backlash out.

I put it on my Sherline and works great. It's also adjustable. Say's it right in the instructions.

The only reason i couldn't make it for the Sherline was the goffy thread they use for the Z and you can't find a left hand tap for that size no where or at least not cheaply and they know that.

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: New version of CopyCat, V1.1
« on: March 03, 2009, 11:59:51 PM »
Hi All,
I have posted an appendix to the CopyCat Manual which covers info on a video camera and how to do the modifications.
Here is the link.

http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,10498.msg66486.html#msg66486

I would appreciate any comments you may have.

If you have a web cam or camera which did not work in the Video Plug in.
Please post the model, manufacturer or some info so i can put it in the manual.
Also listing of ones used and worling would also be nice.

Next and last will be a tutorial which covers combined use of video and probing and getting
gcode out of it.

Art,
Hope you enjoy the vacation and  appreciate the insight on how Lazyturn will proceed.
Have a few questions.
Will it be mandatory to make a rough pass?
Will you be able to just double click cut and get a request for a finish pass?
Will you be able to post after a rough pass?
Will a license be requred to post code? Put a little differently, what if anythiing will come with MACH?

I am struggling with the drawing program somewhat. Yes, you would need to save the dxf if that was provided.
Guess if a choice existed between having a drawing program with dxf save or facing and even just a simple
( if simple really exists) straight thru boring i would want the boring and facing. But that's just my preference.

It will be interesting to see the usage of Lazyturn. Only time will tell. Appreciate all you have done.
Don't get a sunburn while on vacation.

Vince,
It should be neat project. Here's a suggestion before you cut the nuts in half. Take a look at Sherlines anti backlash
system. Since your screw is not an odd ball you can make an adjustable and replacable antibacklash system for both axises and incorporate it into the design. Worth looking into.
Looks like your getting ready for those addictiive small model engines.

General Mach Discussion / Re: backlash help please

ALEX850,
If you have backlash you have it and it dosn't go away unless you do something other than using the sofware to
change the amount. Backlash compensation just adjusts for the amount of non-movement if it's activated.

Good point RC,
Never thought of that, so you can check it out similar to doing a motor tuning.
Hmmmmm.........
Just do  backlash moves in a coded loop and see what happens by changing settings. By indicating
along with say a number of dfferent cycles you'll see how repeatable or good your settings are.

Haven't the foggiest idea Brett. But I remember I just started gradually changing the shuttle speed till i was happy it wasn't "crawling along" or seemed fast enough.

BTW,  Think that was one that Brian mentioned at the seminar, they didn't know where to put the settiing and it just ended up being thrown there.
