Putting 5mm boring bits in a router can be dangerous. There not really designed to spin more than about 4000 rpm, I don't think. I've seen them bend before, and if they bend at 10,000 rpm, look out.
You can get 5mm router bits with a 1/4" shank, which would be a much better option. Or, use a 1/4" bit and get 1/4" shelf pins. That's what I do.
