Google plywood router robot to see a few examples. The Maslow machine looks cool.

It might be possible to produce gcode that avoids the need to deal with this.  For example I wrote a wizard that produces code to engrave a knurl that only requires the A axis to rotate in one direction throughout.  I posted it somewhere on here, I'll try to find it.

Right!  Glad it's sorted.

I found a KBIC schematic on the web and I'm not surprised at what you have found, those terminals will have very limited current supply capacity.  I can't understand why it needs 30mA from the external supply, I designed a circuit which took virtually no current at all.  Hey-ho.

Well that was my experience anyway.  If you do get noise problems the first thing is to use high quality USB cables with decent shields, and often you can improve things by wrapping a couple of turns of the able through a ferrite ring.  But as I said, I've not had any problems and I haven't taken any special precautions.

Lathe set to diameter mode but the pendant either isn't set or doesn't recognise it.  Mach 3 should say diameter mode under the dros.  Just ignore the pendant.

Do you mean that you had 11.5v on the kbic before connecting and 3.5v when connected to the c11g? That would be consistent with the pwm circuit on the c11g requiring more current than the kbic can deliver.  Your circuit should work (though I haven't checked the pin assignments) provided the isolation on the 12v supply is OK, but since it has to allow for the negative output to be grounded it should be.  The key factor in isolating a psu is having a transformer inside, either a chunky mains one or a tiny high frequency one in a modern switched mode type.

Your local time is 5 hours behind uk.

I have one uc100 on about a 1 metre cable to the mill the other about 2 metres to the lathe.  Lathe has vfd drive, mill uses a kbe dc drive.  No problems with noise.
