Chad there are a few more bugs but for the most part it is running VERY well... There is going to be an update in the firmware that should fix most of the bugs. So I think in the next few months you should see this grow into a great product!

There is a new video showing a file getting cut a t 300 IPM with a 1/16inch mill  in brass... The mill willl now do 500IPM  ;D That is about all I think I can get out of the mill at this point, But I have a 10inch 4th axis that is next on the list!

View it here. May take a few moments to start to stream.

If the above flash video does not work for you, you can try this wmv version.

I did that in the past but the best way to go is to put gecko drives in the mill...

Nope you are going to drive the machine from the printer port... :) You could use a Grex from Gecko but that is more money...

1. Iis not a problem once you have a limit hooked up that may change state depending on what type of switch you have.
2. Your settings under porst and pins are not right
3. I think it is "OKay"...
Hope that helps

hi

im starting a project to rebuild an old cnc lathe.  im a mechanical engineer, so i have little knowledge of electronics and such.

what im using is mach3 turn with Gecko 201's on each of the 2 axis along with the combo breakout board from campbell.

so far ive hooked up the steppers to the gecko's and breakout board to the pc.  ive done some jogging and adjusted the turning options to suit the threading on my axels.

i have some questions about the electrical side of this though.

1. the Z-axis, when set up according to the instructions with campbell's board (active low), the z-limit starts blinking (limits are not connected yet) and the only way to resolve this is to set the signal to active high, contrary to the instructions of the breakout board.  x works fine with active low.  what could be going on here?

2.  The Z-axis/gecko is hooked into the Z outputs on the breakout board, but the LED board blinks on the A-axis when i jog Z.  what does this mean?

3.  There is a bit of clicking noise coming from the breakout board when jogging around.  is this bad?

Thanks for any help regarding these concerns of mine.  remember im new to this, and any answers in plain laguage are greatly appreciated.

A simple 3 axis mill/ router is what 99% of the people use.. Most seem to use Gecko drives and take a look at the PMDX board that plugs into the gecko drives it is VERY slick and cuts down on the wires that you have to run for a stepper system.

Hope that helps

Try entering G00 G90 (xpos ypos) This should make it move at rapid to the position that you would like.

You should be able to do it with the Grex at some point and you may be able to do it in VB but I have never tested it...
