CVI MachStdMill (MSM) / Re: Uninstalling MSM
« on: August 10, 2010, 07:54:54 AM »
Go to "Start", then "Control Panel", then "Programs", then "uninstall". MSM will be listed there, select it and uninstall it. It should remove all related files. Good Luck

Should I turn off the watchdog in general config til then?

I see V4 is coming out tonight and that it possibly addresses this concern. I dont seem to remember this error. I have not actually cut anything on these screens yet.

I am not sure why it throws this error. I see you reference it in the manual but no fix. I am sure it is something I did.

General Mach Discussion / Re: limit switch triggered

Do you mean the shields are connected to the machine and the controller? If they are connected at both sides this will be the cause. This is where optoisolation or electrical isolation between your computer and machine would have been bypassed. Also make sure your limit switch wiring is not bundled together with power or stepper wiring. This can lead to false triggering also, from induction I think is the term. The debounce interval in the general configuration page can be lengthened to say 1000 as a test. If that helps start lower it to 500 and less. The way I understand that option is that it only triggers if the signal is constant for the specified period of time, if it is fluctuating during that period it would be disregarded as noise. I know the debounce circuit was disabled for something and I cant remember what it was. Someone will chime in if so. Anyway try lengthening the debounce interval dont worry about the spindle debounce as it is for rpm feedback.

1 pin home & limits
1 pin E stop
1 pin probe and touch plate (switch states when switching between the 2)
What buttons are you referring to?

Are you in step mode or velocity on the flyout page? I experienced a similar issue before I corrupted my last xml file. I had it working in .1 and .01 but .001 would give me distances like what you refer to. I personally think I would have resolved that difference soon but now I am starting over. I am being tempted by the MSM screens. Btw step mode should take you to the exact distance and velocity mode will not be accurate in distance (I do believe it would be as accurate if you could press the key for the same exact time). Is this using an MPG or with the on screen controls?

I know this is an older post but only version .010 is supported for the beta.
I have played around with probing but with little/no success, probably the same underlying issue I have with TLO and MTM.  Restarting Mach doesn't seem to get it working again, is there something I could look for in the Processes tab of Windows Task Manager?

The thread on probing has me thinking about how I have configured my TP and probe, I'll take a closer look at this.

I'm running Mach R3.04.012
MSM beta 2
SS beta 2 v15

I have been using the Go TC Pos'n but still get the error message.

I think I will reinstall from skratch rather than use my original Mach3 xml it may have some unusual things in it.

Calum :P

Computer use is beta testing for me! The MSM looks great and of course I had just corrupted my latest xml anyway so why not go ahead and reconfigure everything at the same time. The real fear is if all of you have the patience to walk me thru the tuning of it once it is installed, if any is needed. Next I will be trying to write macros or some other confusing topic. Thanks for the encouragement.

Maybe there should be minimum requirements for a beta tester! Ok I use 3 different computers and might respond to the forum from anyone of them. 2 of my computers are 32 bit however the laptop that I have been loading it on trying to get my bearings is 64 bit. When I responded yesterday I wasnt paying attention to what computer I was on hence the Athlon reference. I could be a covert Mach3 64 bit beta tester (what the software guys would learn from me, is what a beginner is going to do). I was much more worried about how to set MSM up than appears was warranted. It seems to install pretty painlessly and besides ports and pin settings and such, it looks like it would work pretty much right out of the box. The probing page really makes me envious.
