Mach3 default installation is C:\Mach3. You should find the driver test  along with a lot of other files as shown in the attached.

Ali,

I use Leafboy Mach3 Usb Motion Card (AKZ250).

Not familar with that card.
Does it provide for threading?
Can post a link to the manual for it?

I have a licenced version of Mach3, software is at latest.

Try version 062 don't use 066
Post your xml file that your using.

I use C3 card for receiving index pulses. (1 slotted disk with approx. 12mm opening.)

Post a link to that card!
The opening can be calculated, see the Lathe Manual as a guide but can  be larger than calculated ( which may be your problem ).
To test the index see my writeup Threading On The Lathe in Members Doc's.

Debounce affects how manny times Mach must see the index before it accepts the signal and thus threading cycle starts.

same problem comes up, those dam DRO numbers, DoButton, DoOEMButton and all other internal variables and or parameters should have been written in plain English
There is a listing of most of them, I think you'll find it in Members Doc's. Also use machscreen as you can find where the Dro, Button, etc is. Of course sometimes the script is
used for items created by the user so one needs the same screen to find. Waite until you get duplicated stuff in a screen set and different scripts.

Must admit that sometimes it is not fun, even irritable, but then, this guy is just a novice at it all!

General Mach Discussion / Re: digitizing in mach3 with a usb camera
« on: May 24, 2016, 10:14:28 AM »
There are a number of ways to do what you want and then some.

Have a  look at Copycat, there is manual for it in Member's Doc's and it will provide you with gcode file. The code can be backplotted to a dxf drawing if you have a program to do that.
It is used with a usb camera. Know nothing about Rhino so can't help there.

There is another program called Probe It and besides using for the lathe I "think" there is a version of it for the mill.
You must use Mach's original screen set.

Have you considered  just taking a picture and importing into to CAD, scale it based on two dimensions, and just draw over it?
Easy in say AutoCAD, but again know nothing about Rhino.

A spring activated probe can be used on paper. You are just closing the switch so speak. Just something to think about.

I created a screen set for my lathe. I was interested in being able quickly get a profile or  whatever with the option to do it a number of different ways and with different degrees of accuracy.
Selection depends on what you want in the end.
One of the quickest is  to just get a few selected points and have those points drawn in CAD as points, a line,  or an arc. It will not work with "all" CAD programs but works with the two that I use.
So one can put a figure in the  machine, get some points, have it drawn, import the file into a program, output the code, and be ready to duplicate in say 10 minutes.

Just some thoughts on what you want to do.

What version of windows are you using?

Do search for a file called   DriverTest    on your computer

It is located in the directory where Mach 3 is installed and is part of  Mach3 installation.

Run the Driver Test? You will find the file in the MACH3 directory where you installed Mach.

Have you contacted Wantai?
What did they say?

You need to tune the motors.
Steps  / Unit are calculated. What values do you have in Motor Tuning for the X & Y?

Post the mill x & y screw info. ie; screw pitch

You may want to increase the steps to 2000 on the drives. Stepper is 1.8 deg / 200 steps per rev so you micro step them at 2000.

Suggest  turn on switch 4 so there is no 1/2 current reduction when motor is at standstill. Shouldn't get hot.

Do you have info on the break out board?
Do have a manual for the drive?

BTW, post a link to stuff so one doesn't need to spend time searching for info.

---------------------------------
For now don't activate backlash.

You can use Mach3  to calibrate an axis.
Are you using MACH3?
Just follow the on screen directions. ( CTL J TAB lower left corner for calibration of axis).
Just move the axis some distance in the direction you will move before using the calibration feature to remove backlash.

Also make sure that the mill gibbs are adjusted and not too tight.

Lastly....READ the Mach Manual.

General Mach Discussion / Re: cnc training cources?
« on: May 20, 2016, 06:26:30 AM »
Don,

Have a look at Community Colleges, State Colleges, Trade schools within your area. and see what they have to offer.
Look at the mechanical engineering curriculums for courses offered.
A lot of  community colleges offer certificate programs in continuing education. In many cases prereaqusit courses are required.

You may want to research different industrial employers that utilize cnc machinery in their manufacturing. Sometimes they offer / have their owne  on line courses
to be done by the employee. So you could pursue becoming a cnc operator while working there and move up.

Network with people to find folks in the trade. Ask the right questions, be thank full for any advice given, and if done properly you may be surprised on the results.

These days I echo the following:

YOU CAN HAVE ANYTHING YOU WANT, BUT ONCE YOU SELECT IT, YOU MUST PAY THE PRICE!

Good luck,

The attached  provides lathe  basics that should you should know and understand.
The info is from a manual I have been writing for a lathe screen set.
