Yes it is normal for axes to be different and as such you may require different motors or drive setups on each axis, all depends on how different they are.
You may just need to alter the decay as I have heard that some motors need the settings different from others.
The main issue is likely that the Chinese drives are not the best so you may have to mess around to get the best you can out of them. Lots of people have given up and gone with G504s and say the difference is amazing but if you can get a satisfactory result with what you have then all is good.
