It's ok to have more amps because the system will only draw what it needs, right?
Yes

Do you have a link to power supply you have?
Bought them from Camtronics a long time ago but suggest you shop around.

Doughty,
With Mach 3 Turn open click on the Wizards button and then select Turning.
They will generate the gcode.

Harvey,
Go to the LT thread and in that thread find the reply number.
Sorry, but i don't know which page the reply is on.

The one mistake that i didn't make was a puny power supply. Got 30 amps available at 36 volts so i can have use max amp out of the Geckos i use for 4 axis.
Only had to buy once which was cheaper than buying twice. Or said a different way, like a big motor  in the car, power available  should i decide to use it later.

Here is the problem with all of this. To design your system you need to be able to relate each of the pieces to the intended use.
What system you end up with willl only be as good as the weakest link . There are books written on each system piece.

Jim,
My bad....
LT assumes that the center of the tool tip is related to X&Z=0.
Well you can't really put a radiused tool at X & Z = 0 as it would be into the material.
An even worst case would be a tool which is turned on an angle such that the tool side hits the material.
There is an initial move in the code ( look at the first few lines ) and is discussed in section 6.5 of the manual.
So how does one deal with the compensated code?
That is explained in Appendix "F"  section 6.2 by using a G52. Then read 6.5 again and make note of the last sentence!
But you may as well read the complete section as each section builds on the previous section such that in the end you will have the whole picture.
If it's hard reading then imagine writing it?  ;) Your comments would be appreciated.

What I am really after is CAM for some simple internal turning
Have a look at the wizards.

Calico,
Tend to agree with Derek and Russ in a general. Skipped steps is a rather loose term and "exact" reason can be very elusive. I think that you have mechanical / electrical mechanical  problems that are creating the skip.
Certainly can be wrong! Once you have a program that allows for repeating the problem then you have a means to narrow it down through disciplined observation and testing.

Here is a true practical example. Like you ,I have a problem with a mill that will not do 3D fine cutting without fault.
I machined  the same piece using my engraving machine and same code. No problem at all ( three tries / 20 hours of machining / and the engraving machine uses 253000 steps inch...but no problems ).
The mill was found to have an axis bearing problem such that normaly it would not show up, but after measuring the torque required to turn the screw, after some "manual similation" of code moves , i found it requires an additional 70 to 100 in-oz of motor torque and thus all my "freeboard" in motor tuning was used up and thus a fault. Varying config settings and other stuff mentioned will not cure my  problem.
The only fix is to modify that axis and do away with the problem. Finding the problem was very, very, very elusive. Now just need to get off my ask and fix it!

Forget about my problem though. Check your machine out and be confident that all is well, then apply the code to observe ( do post that code ).
You'll  find the darn cuplrit.

Lee,
LazyTurn is not meant to compete with Dolphin Turn as Dolphin provides more functionality and you pay a lot for it.
Suggest you start a new post for any Dolphin issues  since there are users of it and they may be able to help you out.

LT is easier to use than Dolphin for what it does for my nickle!
Frankly it can replace manny of the turn wizards associated with a outside profile.

Would be nice if there was enough users to warrent a pro version of LT at some cost, adding additional functionality, but that's one for Art to determine.

Have fun with it and do look thru the documentation,
