Yep Hood has it. Just make sure you have moved the machine over so you have good entry to the work area Before you park the machine

BUT now you get the $20 lecture (;-) I do NOT recommend allowing the operator to get inside the machine work area during a "SOFT" hold.

Safety First, (;-) TP

There are several options depending on your message needs.

Simple reminder in the MACH message window that pops up just before the hold

More pronouned VB window that pops up in the center of your screen

Dedicated Mach full screen page that defines your message.

Hope that helps(;-) TP

There was also a little chatter on the Yahoo Mach group :

General Mach Discussion / Re: YAHOO GROUP MESSAGES ARCHIVE

YAHOO said it.  OK let me rephrase that. In the last couple of months I get notices from Yahoo when I log into yahoo groups about the future of yahoo groups and how things may change for the better.

SO it would be a good idea to BE prepared for the worst and get the message base transfer over to this website.

General Mach Discussion / YAHOO GROUP MESSAGES ARCHIVE
« on: December 26, 2010, 04:16:47 PM »
Has anyone given any thought of backing up the yahoo message base and archiving here. It seems the Yahoo groups are going away soon.  There is  WORLD of info in the messages that is still current today.

Shame to loose it all.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Yo will normally get the best finish IF you follow the basic guidelines for speed feed and chipload for the tool used AND the material it is used on. Then work on when to climb or conventional mill.

Rarely will you end up with NO tool marks on low end machines.

General Mach Discussion / Re: SmoothStepper and THC

Talk to your THC manf most should offer there stuff as a stand alone controller that runs the Z axis motors independantly from MACH . It just needs 2 outputs to tell mach ArcGood and ArcLost so mach knows when to move and stop.

Talk to TOM at CandCNC he is very well versed in THC design and operations

VB and the development of wizards / Re: speed of execution of macro
« on: December 25, 2010, 10:49:16 AM »
You can also do it one more way to save a little more space. It is the remote call method. You store your sub in the sub directory then call it with the M98.

Save the sub as a program file:

(Sub 100.tap)
o100
   G1 A2.5
   G1 A0
   G1 A1.7
M99
%

Then you  Gcode file would look like this:

F20
G01 X2 Y0   M98 C:\mach3\sub\ProgramName.tap
G01 X9        M98 C:\mach3\sub\ProgramName.tap
G01 X14      M98 C:\mach3\sub\ProgramName.tap
G01 X15 Y5 M98 C:\mach3\sub\ProgramName.tap
G01 X0  Y4  M98 C:\mach3\sub\ProgramName.tap
G01 X1        M98 C:\mach3\sub\ProgramName.tap
M30

I am not sure what you have going with teh code you posted But I get the general idea of what you are trying to do. You application is really simple and really you won't save time either way. The straight Gcode would be the best approach .

Straight Gcode Example:

F20
G01 X2 Y0
 A2.5
 A0
 A1.7
G01 X9
 A2.5
 A0
 A1.7
G01 X14
A2.5
A0
A1.7
G01 X15 Y5
A2.5
A0
A1.7
G01 X0  Y4
A2.5
A0
A1.7
G01 X1
A2.5
A0
A1.7

%

SUB program approach:  THe M98 calls the sub by the o word and name o100 the L paramter tells how many times to run the sub. At the end of the sub the M99 returns to the call line then advances to the next line. At teh end of the program the M30 ends the program

F20
G01 X2 Y0   M98 P100 L1
G01 X9        M98 P100 L1
G01 X14      M98 P100 L1
G01 X15 Y5 M98 P100 L1
G01 X0  Y4  M98 P100 L1
G01 X1        M98 P100 L1
M30

o100
   G1 A2.5
   G1 A0
   G1 A1.7
