A famous quote from Paul Harvey comes to mind...."And now you know......The REST of the story"  ;D  :D  ;D  :D
Seriously though, it does look good. Maybe when your done with it, somebody will take it and make a "used and abused" version of it. You know, dirt on the rarely used keys and clean worn parts on the most used keys. A bit of screen burn. Maybe a Y-axis button that you hafta press between 3 and 10 times to get to function. A taped on sticky note with some sort of ink pen instructions written on it thats faded and stained because its been there since the previous owner put it there 10 years ago.

Added a photo. I think you meant X axis, if not I can take some more of the Y. I looked at your machine when I was deciding how to drive my axis. Although I did not use the tensioner method, and went with a loop, it was inspirational anyhow. I think Art used a belt on his also. I think your frame is quiet a bit more rigid than mine. Sure looks like it, anyhow. I made my table adjustable to accommodate vices and such, which now limits me from putting extra support gussets in place. With a bit more foresight and design time, it could have been easily accomplished. Ahh well, live and learn.

Could be that your "I-J mode" is set opposite of what it should be. In Mach3, go to config tab>general config. I-J mode is listed in the middle of the page.

Thought I might be able to get some advise on troubleshooting a machining center thats just been sitting idle in the shop for 4 years. I have seen it run previously, and if memory serves correct, the travel limit was possibly exceeded, and the error began at that time. The error that is displayed states "Y pulsecoder disconnect". Nothing has been physically disconnected. What would give this error other than disconnecting the cable? I have not taken anything apart on the motor yet to inspect it. If the machine had hard-stopped, would a power surge cause something to go bad, and result in this error? Maybe the limit switches were not functioning, I don't know, nor do I know that the limits were in fact exceeded. The magnascale also indicates a problem with an error LED, but on the X axis. Any advise on troubleshooting this is greatly appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Re: New Guy...Need Help

In addition to the cad software, your gonna need a cam software package that translates your drawings to g-code. Autocad might have a plugin for this, I do not know. Lazy cam thats installed with mach should work. I have never used it, so I really can't tell you the exact capabilities of it, but if your just wanting to press that "go" button, I'm sure it will suffice. I do believe it will import dwg, dxf, as well as other formats including pictures. Should keep ya busy for a while:)

Looks good. Had the same problem as bcromwell at first, but that was an error with winzip extraction. Thanks for your time making the set.
