Yes I'm going to do that and also find another cable.
The Driver Test does exactly what it says, it tests the driver, ie Machs parallel port pulsing engine, it does not test the port itself.
Regarding swapping lpt1 to lpt2, you can not just do that and expect things to work.
I will go through things again to hopefully help you understand.
It does not matter what Windows calls the port, it can be LPT1, LPT3, LPT100000000000 and Mach doesnt care. Mach is only interested in the address.
If you enter the address in Port 1 field box in Mach then you must set all your axis and any other Inputs and Outputs to Port 1.
If you enter the address in the Port2 box in Mach then you will have to set all up as Port2.
Now please answer some questions.
Does your computer have 1 physical port connection on the back or does it have more than 1?
If it has 1 is it up at the top beside the other connectors or is it lower down beside the slots?
If it has more than 1 which are you connected to?
