Title: DMC-2143 time out
Post by: paganel1408 on May 04, 2015, 11:52:14 AM
Hello.
I'm new here.
Bought The controller Galil DMC 2143.
I have a problem with time out the Ethernet connection.
I tried the last two firmware, Windows 7 32bit and Windows Xp Pro 32bit.
Different network cards, different Galil plugin, try to connect through the crossover and "switch" and a different IP address.
When I use plugin 4.6 and 4.6st CPU usage is greater than 50%.
With version 4.5 CPU usage is less than 5%.In all variants that I tried in manual mode movement smooth.
When the G code load movement is jerky.
What else can I try to do.
Thank you.

Hello.
I think I have solved my problem.
Noise came from the spindle. Before that I used NcPod had no such problems. At the website Galil found document Application Note 5438
did as it says and now everything works.
Thank you.

Not everything is as good as I thought.
When I am trying to do V-carving Z axis moves upwards.
And when did pocket the Y axis has moved to the other side of 4 mm and broke cutter.
I set microstep 1/25, before it was NcPod and I had no problems
with loss position.
I tried to do the test Z-axis moved at a speed of 3000 mm \ min and acceleration
500 mm \ s at a distance of 5 mm 100 times axis back to zero.
What could it be? Mach3, Controller.

The photo shows that the numbers are not all engraved.
Z axis moves upwards by about 1 mm.
At the sound of the machine is working well, there is no missing steps.
Mach3 does not show errors.
In the utility 3Com network card in the "Statistics" errors and
the lost data is not present.

Hello.

I found a solution , change the type of the motor with stepper Hi to stepper Lo active.
Now it works.
That began to make MPG.

It is sad that so many views and not a help.

For some reason, I quit getting forum notifications.  Sorry about that.  :(

Most people that run the Galil are using it so they can drive servos.  So you are in a VERY small group.  :(

Hello Steve.
I'm was not referring to you, this is a forum, not a manufacturer support.
Stepper motors is temporary.
Now I installed servos, I wrote you a private message but you did not answer, I will ask here, can you show a screenshot Galiltools, the waveform Step response of your system.
Thank you.

I tuned tuned the servos by hand on my machine and I don't think I even used an oscilloscope!  But I have tuned so many servo systems that I have developed a feel for it.  I don't have Galil tools with the scope, so I don't know that I can get what you want.  :(

Understood.
I was thinking that you Galil controller with built-in amplifier.
Steve, there's an archive of old plugin starting with version 4, it would be interesting to try.
I'm running version 4.5 and version 4.6 loads the processor by 90 percent.
Thank you

I don't have any of the older plugins.  :(  I can tel you that 4.5 fixed a lot of things, so running anything older than that is just not going to be a good idea.  But I do not understand why 4.6 loads the processor!  I'm running 4.6 against a 4080 controller (external amps) with Mach 3 on an ATOM processor and I never see about 20% CPU utilization.  So something on your hardware must be causing it.  Check your Ethernet device settings and see if there are some performance features that you can turn on.

4.6 has been around a long time now.  So I had thought it was pretty reliable.

I have two core processor 3 GB RAM 512 MB Video Windows XP Professional
With version 4.5, the CPU load 0% , with version 4.6  50% when I just turned on the Mach3.

I found the document "Tormach machine controller"
which focuses on the problem of choosing a computer for Mach3.
They use the LTP port, whether it is possible to apply to the ethernet port.
They recommend using the computer on a new Intel Atom processors.
Steve what motherboard you're using?

Thank you.

I bought another computer.
Intel D945GCLF2D Atom 330 1.6Ghz 2Gb RAM.
Installed Windows XP Sp3 latest drivers, GalilTools, Mach3 3.043.062.
And I try to use version 4.5 and 4.6. With version 4.6 25% CPU load with version 4.5 0%
To verify that the loads the processor, downloaded program ProcessExplorer
for it can be seen that galil.dll version 4.6 or the libraries it uses loads the processor.
And version 4.6 uses the library hal.dll, and the version 4.5 does not.
Steve what can advise?

The difference between 4.5 and 4.6 is the Galil communication libraries.  I don't know what may be causing the CPU load.  I simply don't see it on my machine at all.  But...  25% is not 100%, so it should run fine.
