Post by: Netjams on May 12, 2006, 08:38:53 PM
Mach3 won't with all the same port settings.
It looks like it works but it's not getting to the port  :-\

I'm running..

I'm not sure the XML for your machine would help me out, as I'm running a home built router table with Geko 201 drives connected to a parellel port on my computer.

I have tried everything.. and Mach3 just wont talk to the port or port(s) for that matter. I used a port monitor and can see Mach2 changing status but Mach3 wont change any of them except if I force all pins high Mach3 will set them all low on startup but that is as much port activity as I can get out of it.

I'm sure it must be something simple that i'm missing in the program  :-\

Oh and this is a purchased copy not the demo version, so that can't be an issue.

No that did the same thing Brian.

I was looking in the XML and it shows all 0's for all the output ports.. Hmmmm.

I'm a fair programmer, with a hint I can play around and find it... But I'm sure others may have the same problem.

I started a new profile with default settings and set up pins, hot keys and port to keep it clean.

Looking at it (the XML).. it looks like all the ports, pins exec.. are set correct.

Reinstall Mach3 and besure that you don't uncheck any boxes on install. there is a box that says to install the driver and you have to have that. we have your XML putting out steps so it has to be something like that.

Ok...

Wiil do a reinstall  ;D

Sorry about the loss of the server for a few moments, I was changing bios setting on the port to see if that may be the bug, but watching the activity after the changes it looks like Mach2 and 3 use the same engine  ;D

See I'm learning fast ;D

Thanks!

I will post the results  :-*

Ha.. That worked  ;D

But it may also be that the offline button flashing green (me thinking it's online) could be the problem  :-\

You need to make the text on that button say "On Line" and flash green when it's online and "Off Line" flashing red when off line.

Anyway... Thanks for the help and here is to many broken bits in the furtue  ;D

i am having the same issue..  i read this thread over a few times repeating this solution with no luck...  i am considering buying the mach3 release so i can finally put my machine to use.  it is a 5'x8'x14" router i built from scratch.

so far i have been running the old mach2 free release just to get my machine running.  its running great!!!  servo motors and geckos, computer is a p4 1.8, using the soundlogic breakout board.

mach2 runs it wonderfully.  but mach3 doesnt do anything....  i set up mach3 exaclty as my mach2 is, no luck...    i uninstalled the works even removing the hardware drivers, reboot, then reinstal, no luck...  so i reinstalled mach2 again, and mach2 works fine as suspected...

got any ideas for me????

attached is a copy of the xml file, should have included it the first time.  sorry.

Hi, Shnitzel

You can have both Mach2 and Mach3 installed at the same time, Just Run one at a time.

Will get it Working, Chip

yup, at present i still have them both installed (mach2 and mach3), but only one running at a time.  still working fine in mach2, and no responce with mach3.

when i jog, just like Netjams problem,  the computer interface showes all the axis numbers moving and whatnot.  same as if i run g-code.  but the CNC doesnt respond.

in mach2 when pressing the reset button on the CNC jumps a bit, this is not happening with mach3.

Hi, Shnitzel

Is there an enable pin for your servos ?

Also it's easy to miss the Port assignment in Ports & Pins, Motor Outputs, Right side of the setup page, Assifn to port 1 6 places.

Gust some More Info, Chip
