Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach 4 Feature Request

That seems like a bad idea, Don't think it would be good to change the #vars as the poor machine is trying to use them. and that tells me you are only doing it to setup. in that case the reg thing would work for testing. I could be missing something..  Do tell what you are trying to do.

Hello Guys,
I wanted you to know that we are nearing the end of the beta period and I am pleased with how it has gone. Thank you all for your input and comments.

I have Tom (the guy that did the Gcode manual) starting on the operation Manual for the default Mach4 screen. We will enhance some of the screen over time but for a first run I think it is a good start. When Tom is done with the manual I will have him look at working on the API / lua doc some... Tom is not a programmer but he is a damn fine engineer that can make a script work. Also we have an OEM working on making some nice Lua examples for everyone to use as a guide and or a platform to work from.

The webpage is getting worked on and when they are done I am going to have them make a place for Lua scripts that people would like to post. So you can have a holding bay for examples that people would like to share.

I know some of you are a little upset on how we are releasing the software and would like to see it finished with all docs and every features. Know this, we are following the plan we had set into motion over 2 years ago on how to release the software. So hang on.. this is a big project and we are doing as good as I could have ever hoped.

Thanks
Brian

Terry hang on to your butt.. this is only the start. This is the beginning of the project. Mach3 got more features as time went on, Mach4 is designed to grow and the sky is the limit.

So this really is all down to manuals.. I think you can see by the Gcode manual and the install manual that we are going to put in the time on the manuals :) . The manual will be done as soon as we have this version locked down. So I don't see it taking us that long to get it "finished"

Thanks

Update... We now have drill cycled that work with all 6 axis.. Mach3 NEVER had this.. and I am giving it to the Hobby version... Also G60 has been fixed up so it works in drill cycles now.

G73 G83 are fixed as far as my testing can tell.

Thanks

I am shocked that you could call Mach4 not close to finished.. The issue with the Hotkeys is nothing more then us setting up the plugin and calling it a standard. Screen design I think will be used but more to remove and change the location of items on the screens. The real goal is to make the people that can program have all the tools they need to make the screens they want to.. And at the same time add features that we don't have time to do. Mach4 is NOT out for release for a reason.. but I think it is 98% ready as far as features for Mill and Routers.  What would make if "finished" more? a manual? that is not the core software.. Hotkeys? That is the KB plugin and a few signal scripts. It can run parts and you can customize it more then Mach3 every could have been.. I would call that one hell of a big step in the right direction.

I have no idea what the expectations are but if I lived to be 300 years old and worked on it every day people still would not be happy. Please don't say "it is not done" tell us what you think it needs to feel more complete! We are asking for your input! this is your chance...

Thanks
Brian

That PLC script is for the wxMach.exe Static GUI. So if you stay in MachGUI.exe it will not that PLC code.

Thanks
