Tempest ,    DEAD , unsupported

Grex,            Dead, unsupprted
NCPOD,         Dead, unsupported
Seig Machines,   Have their own forum I believe

Well actually Plasma has little in common with milling in many ways.

Also trying to find something relateing to plasma can be difficult for the newbies when it is mixed in with thousands of generic post.

There are ONLY 4 basic divisions of mach users. BUT each represents some thing totally different that the other.

Mill
Turn
Plasma/jet cutting
all others

Comparing this forum to the Zone is comparing apples to oranges(;-) Here all subjects should point to MACH.

BUT it is not a real problem if the forum does not want more subject Sections(;-) We can always redirect the traffic back to the ZONE.

Have a good one

That is great Scott Glad you got it working . IF you need help with the macro lets us know.  It would be easy to fix BUT also a great learning tool for YOU to try out your VB skills. (;-)

One note though, the VB in the book is a little different than machs VB. But the basics should hold true.

WOuld it be possible to have a MACH PLASMA section added.

There are many people using mach and plasma these days AND this would be a good spot to draw them to.

Plasma IS a different Dawg than most cnc applications so their processes tend to be different and their requests and NEEDS  may get lost in the normal CNC traffic.

Thanks if it is possible,

I might not know ALL the ways it can be done, But I do know most of the ways that it can be messed up.

If you have a problem just ask for the help, Baggering the product does not help it only gets you fussed at(;-)

Been there done that as well.

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: Using a Variable

The Scam(SheetCam) post is the part of Scam that actually writes the Gcode based on the drawing and other parameters. Less will handle the modifications of that part for you.

A Macropump is a piece of code that mach runs continuesly. I t can be used for uses such as this.

You can use any Gcode Var # and you will only use 1 AND you have to let LES know which one you choose.  I would use one in the range of 500-600 as those Vars are stored in MachsXML file when it shuts down and will always be there at startup. The other #Vars are not retained when Mach shuts down.

Also you can set the dro to be stored as well so you have double safe values on startup(;-)

Hope that helps, if not we will try again(;-)

Amir now would be the time for YOUR customers to invest in a commercial controller. I know that mazaks,Seimans and Fanuc can do "exactly" what you THINK they need. AND they are only about $10k per machine(;-) plus integration cost.

I have been cutting for about 40 years now so I might have an idea about how it works and HOW to do it at the best economic RETURN on my Dollar.

Now in all fairness there are some things that mach does not do as well as the $10k controllers BUT for $175 what exactly are you expecting???

BUT keeping in the SPIRIT of mach and the mach forum AND after many gallons of midnight to daylight oil I may have a solution(;-)

This has been working this morning without fail for several hours of testing with the latest MACH lockdown version V.040.

And you know the routine"Use it at your own risk" AND you may need to modify it to suite your machine or process.

Basically what he is doing is allowing the Scam post to add a Variable to the Dwell so that he can change the dwell time on the fly as needed.

Gcode Dwell

G4 P1         would indicate a pause of 1 sec based on the P parameter of 1 (IF you set up config to do secs not Msecs)

The Scam post would input a VAR in place of the number

G4 P#100       Now the pause will be controled by the value of the VAR. All that is needed is a DRO on the program screen to set what dwell you    need for the NEXT section of code. You will also need a piece of code in the Macropump to update the VAR.

SetVar(100,Getoemdro(???))            With that in place with every loop of the macropump the var will be updated to the onscreen DRO value .

A VERY GOOD IDEA that I will add to my setup as well.

You might want to think about a Pierce count DRO as well . It makes it easier to keep track of the number of pierces you have completed.

NO mach does NOT have a big problem with plasma cutting I use it every day. The G31 or G28.1 TOM routines work fine. YES there are quirks BUT in 40 years of cutting I have NEVER seen a system that did not have quirks.

You already know that reverse run does not work so why keep beating on it. I would suggest learning HOW to properly plan and setup your cuts SO you would not need to do a reverse cut to correct a poorly planned cut. (;-)

If you can't plan your consumeables change outs to ensure good cutting OR keep the air supply clean and dry then please DON""T blame mach, look in the mirror for your problem.

There are plenty of PROVEN manual restart routines that are used every day that allow you to do an OCCASIONAL restart as needed.

Sorry but enough is enough
