Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 Printer Port Discussions
« on: August 18, 2014, 01:48:53 PM »
Hi Art ,
Just read your email thanks for pointing me to this thread.
Any ways I just downloaded the latest version of Darwin . Im excited to start testing . Im getting ready to bring M4 out in my garage and try er out.
I have a question though and this may seem stupid , or ignorant .
I was reading or seen on your yourtube page you said Darwin doesnt know its looking for a printer port when setting up the port address. I started to think.
Why cant we or cant you make it so that we can use a regular USB to DB25 connector you know the ones you see for a few bucks.  If it would work I would assume it could run my BOB faster and allow us lab top users a quick cheap connection.
I understand there are plenty other pricier options like smooth stepper but since you guys were building a new system thought I would speak up ..

General Mach Discussion / Re: Post processors
« on: December 18, 2013, 05:14:43 PM »
Rich
I understand how to select a Post Processor. Im using S/C now three axis .
The way it works you up load a Post Processor to a directory then that PP is available in a drop down.
I was in need  of as 4 axis PP because solidcam didnt offer one from there generic drop down menu that comes with there soft ware .   The 3axis PP Im using now came off the web.
So the rep I deal with I guess has to make one I dunno .
I just dont want to spend this money to find out down the road somethings not right .
I guess we will see . I cant use the software with out it .

Would one generic  post processor work on other machines besides just mine? There not meant for just one specific machine correct?

Ive only been using cnc for about 4 months now. So I dont know any were around what I would like to know .
Ive been in contact with solidcam. They will be sending me over a post processor for 4 axis work , for mach3 .
Should this post processor work on all 4 axis machines with Mach3 & SolidCam?
How do I know if its proper and right for me? DO I just run it hoping it doesnt crash into my machine ?
I have no problem posting it publicly. If any one wants to test it out.
I just want to know if its going to do what its suppose to . Im not sure how to do that.

General Mach Discussion / Touch probe
« on: November 24, 2013, 11:49:08 AM »
Im going to buy a touch probe.
I was wondering if any one has used a higher end robe with Mach3 . Im looking into a Mitutoyo Touch probe. I dont want to buy it if it cant be configured with mach properly.
The plug coming from the end of it has 8 pins.
Ive searched the net and have not seen any one using a Mitutoyo probe with mach yet .
Thanks for any help

General Mach Discussion / Re: odd motor movement

Ya that was the one I got from CNC4PC
Any ways you were right it was a loose wire.
Ill tell ya you would think the RJ45 adapters would be easier to wire up but its really not the case . All the wires at some point have loosened up. \
Thanks for the help as all ways .

Im putting together a new mill . Im using a C35 BOB . CNC4PC ( Maker of the Bob) has an xml file to go with the board. I installed it into mach . All the motors move fine except my X axis. Its very jittery and jumpy but thats not the strangest part. If I hit up itll go up and if I hit down it will move down but sometime when I hit up or down it will go the complete other direction . Not always..
So what do you guys think?

If feed rate changes things are you losing steps? Are your motors set to high. Im no expert by ant means. I do know with my CNC if I set my motors to high they are not accurate they loose steps I guess its called .
