General Mach Discussion / Re: Tool problem!
« on: October 09, 2006, 01:18:15 PM »
If you are using tool compensation you need to set the diameter of the tool in your offsets for that tool.

If the tool is cutting big you increase the diameter size to make it cut smaller (making it stand back from the job more) and the opposite for cutting small.

Hood is correct in his reply,  the G43 should be followed by a H value,  do you always get a zero, try telling rhino you are using tool 1 or above and see if that changes the output.

It sounds as if it will work but it would be a good idea to contact them and ask if its 3.3 or 5 volt output, 3.3 will cause you problems.

If you look in the manual under macropump that should do what you want.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Accuracy Considerations
« on: September 27, 2006, 07:26:34 PM »
How long is a piece of string!

There are many factors to the answer, here are a few

1. Is the machine worn
2. Are you using leadscrews or ball screws
3. Is there backlash, yaw, twist, etc.
4. What ratio of motor to screw

The list goes on and on

Mach is not the limiting factor, Mach will work to .0001" or less.

Its like this, make the machine accurate and Mach will do the rest.

Tangent Corner / Re: max torque or continuous torque for design
« on: September 27, 2006, 03:16:36 AM »
It takes far more torque to start the gantry moving than it dose to keep it moving,  then you have to think about the ratio of the motor to the shaft a 2:1 ratio in effect halves the starting torque required.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Spindle Start Macros
« on: September 26, 2006, 05:19:15 AM »
I don't understand!

If mach can stop the spindle why can't it start the spindle?

The relay must be cutting the power to the spindle somehow for it to be able to stop it at the bottom of the hole.

Can you post some photos of how all this is wired up.

What is setting "Input2"

If the G84 cycle is calling M4 to reverse the spindle and Input2 is active it will continue moving.
