General Mach Discussion / Re: Connecting a servo driver
« on: October 10, 2020, 06:13:25 PM »
A lot of servo drives are +-10V analogue so mach3/4 can not drive them without a motion controller that can do this.

You need to look up the board you have to see if it is analogue.

You have no direction signal.  See if you get a voltage change on the pin when you press the jog keys back and forth.

General Mach Discussion / Re: X-Z cutting clips top of material

We have been through this before, what CAM system are you using, 3D clearance routines can use flat 1/4" cutters, finishing profiles in most cases use ball or bull end cutters.  If you use flat cutters the lead and trailing edges of the tool dig into the work surface.

If the tool is digging into the surface then the CAM is allowing for the radius of the tool to put the contact point in the correct place.

Mach has no setting that can alter this.

A straight line in X & Z will be working from the centre line of the cutter so will overlap the edge of the cut path by the radius.

Do you have the enable on the C10 connected to 5V and the jumper set to outputs for pins 2 to 9.

You could try G32 or G92

I don't think you need the 'e' in the address

General Mach Discussion / Re: Picatinny Probe Mount Offset

As I said there are many ways to do it.  Its the one that works for you that is best.

You can load the copycat screen and remove the Rem( ' ) out of each buttons VB code for A & B axis.

You could clock a hole or boss with a clock in the spindle and zero out X&Y and take a reading of the machine position figures.

Then probe the bore/boss with the probe and then you will have another set of figures the difference between them can be stored in 2 DRO's on screen for you to adjust the position by or hard coded into your probing routines at the end of the calculations.

Or you could pick a completely different method.

The NVUM is not a good option.  You will have much better results with a standard LPT board.
