I have just tested my set up.

Touching a limit will trigger an Estop this is a software Estop

You do not need the charge pump with a smooth stepper

A charge pump is a software safety device, lose communication you get Estop

If SS loses communication you get an Estop, you can configure how much data is held in the SS buffer before you get an Estop

I would read as much as you can about the SS, threads etc to confirm

I'm not being clear.

My limit switches are NOT  part of the Estop chain.

However, my limit switches. which feed directly into the PC thru the BOB, DO affect the Estop chain in the following manner:

When a limit switch is opened, Mach shuts down the charge pump, and the enable outputs. The absence of these signals from Mach causes the Estop loop to open and keep the system in Estop, as well as shutting off the AC supplies, etc.

Your limits are part of the Estop as you just said this in the second part of your quote that i emphasised

And until you take them out of the equation you may not achieve what you want

General Mach Discussion / Re: Advice sought on a version upgrade of Mach3
« on: February 24, 2010, 10:15:41 AM »
Generally you should use the latest version.

Make a complete backup of your existing Mach folder this can be in the form of renaming the folder to something like OldMach2

Then just install Mach3, and copy over any files you need, some settings may have changed but i wouldn't know what

Plus the fact it would be better, as a new user to learn Mach3 rather than 2, but Rev4 is coming soon.  ::)

Glen you must have different tools with different numbers

So 12.7 mm would be tool one

11.9mm would be tool two

12.7mm bullnose would be tool three

This assumes that there are only three cutters involved

I suggest you always check before running a part that the height offsets are correct

Ahh operator error.  ;D ;D ;D

If you select two elements that overlap you can swap the layers to get the correct visual appearance, it's on the right click menu

FAQs / Re: ANY CAM packages that work well with Alibre Design and Mach 3?
« on: February 20, 2010, 02:50:46 AM »
what are you using?

I am using OneCNC as far as i am aware there are no demos available but they can do an online presentation via netmeeting software even using your part.

The software is cad/cam so you may be better going cam only

But check the links http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41525

Another way would be two profiles, one imperial and one metric
