Normally it should be close to whatever you set but some modern computers do crazy things so it may be your best bet. You have to watch though as going too high will reduce the amount of time that the computer has to do all the tasks other than pulsing. Your time in int at roughly 4-5 so for safety we will say 5. That is quite a good number so likely wont be any issues
60K kernel means each interrupt lasts 16uS so at a time in int of 5 (time driver takes to do its stuff) you still have a computer that is roughly 1/3 pulsing engine and 2/3 for everything else so you should be fine.
