General Mach Discussion / Re: Motors stalling /growling
« on: May 06, 2019, 01:47:11 AM »
in motor tuning I have set my/ steps per, to 1600/ and I have changed my velocity and acceleration to many different numbers. I can get the motors to run smooth when I jog, but when running the demo in mach 3 they sound terrible. At this point I am not worry about speed. I just can't get them tuned. I know i'm just missing something but can't figure it out. I don't give up very easy so i'll keep at it. So any information on tuning is appreciated. you need to dummy it down, as I said I am very new. Thanks for all your information.

steps/per are not set to steps per motorrevolution it is steps/unit (mm or Inch, dont know in witch Units you are working).

do you realy have 1600 steps per mm or Inch?
are you realy sure about your Motor Connections (A+/A- and B+/B-)?
witch exact Motors are you using?

also lathe mode can handle more axis, only the Standard Screen set is made with X and Z.

if you Need more the X and Z a Little bit of screenset work is necessary.

here:

is a Video how to test the single signals, it is for parallel port but
the principal test is the same, just use the terminals of the BOB.

check PC5V to PCGND with a Voltmeter for 5V.

for a simple test you can take the Pul- wire and put it to PCGND.

PUL+ should be connected to PC5V.

every time you do this the Motor must do one single step.

then you see wether the Problem is on the stepper side or BOB side.

doest not allways mean that you have changed Settings, sometimes for what ever reason Mach3 crashes the XML file
with the Settings.
have a look to xmlbackups Folder, there should be a couple of saved XML files.

use different work Offsets (G54...) for the different nozzles and M10/M11 to Switch the valves.

on your Photo it Looks like ENBL+ is connected to PC5V

for a first try i would connect ENBL- to PCGND, and if it is working to a free OUTPUT of BOB and use the OUTPUT
for the enable.

have a look for a tool called WinResizer, i use this if i have to work on screensets witch are designed for an
other Resolution.
