Hi
Fairly newbie
After two years of trying to get this 4X4 CNC plasma table to work I finally threw it away and bought one that does work. I have been doing very well drawing in Auto cad and cutting The problem I have is I am trying to cut 6'' donuts and the sides don't come out even I suspect the motors have to be tuned but I don't know how can anyone help me ?

Hi

Open a thread in the general Mach area and someone will assist, I have just built a 4x4 so maybe I can offer some help.

Is it possible to gain access to ALL functions ??

It would be good to be able to disable the built-in Step-Jog function as i never use step-jog and if accidentally started it seems it can only be stopped by doing a normal jog or waiting.

Also using the right joystick up/down to be able to control THC volts would be good, I have this scripted on the right buttons but the stick would be nice :)

The right stick up/down seems to control feedrate?? I prefer this on buttons and have it scripted but is there a way to disable the federate on the right stick??

Thanks for the plugin BTW it is a very nice addition.

In some countries/areas, 110V neutral is gnd.

110V often consists of one wire at 0V tied to Gnd, with two other wires at 55V, but 180deg out of phase, so you get 110V.

I never knew that, similar to a contractors 240->110v isolating transformer over here, never more than 55v above ground, thanks.

In that case i would certainly be looking at servo amp gain/deadband tuning.

I connected the neutral coming off of the 110, to the chasis on my control box. Is that correct?

That was the bit that worried me.

Personally speaking, i would say it sounds very odd or even dangerous to have connected the neutral to the chassis of any machine.

What motors are these?

Have you got a wiring diagram?

You say servos, have you carried out servo amp tuning yet? Servos need careful setup but it sounds like you have other problems here.

No point in setting pulse duration to zero, minimum is about 2us, average is 5us.

You say speed is 150mm/s thats 9000mm/min so i would start with acceleration of 900mm/s/s

You will find many different settings for speed and acceleration, that is because these values are specific to every machine, no averages or normal settings here.

Forget wire length, unless you have kilometres of it, its negligible.

For acceleration i would start with 1/10 of the max velocity so if your max velocity is 150 then set acceleration to 15 then work up.
Never used the TB6600 board only the separate Leadshine style drives which seem much more robust.

Nice ideas, thanks

Yeah, its not the money, i'll probably get a trackball as they don't need desk space to roll around on and are pretty tough.

Just trying to be smart ;)

thanks, i guess to do what i want, the load-file dialogue would have to be part of Mach and not windows.

the load-last sounds promising though
