Changed computers, can't get kboard working. Help!
« on: June 22, 2008, 03:19:18 PM »
Changed to a newer computer and now I can't get my kboard working. Checked all my settings but they seem right. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are you meaning just in Mach or your keyboard doesnt work at all?
What kind of keyboard? Wireless? USB? PS2?

I'm sorry. I should've said the keyboard does work for other computing. For example I can type in gcode. But my CNC doesn't respond to my up and down arrows or the page up, page down keys for jogging. And now I have a persistent ESTOP. I have yellow lights on the diagnostic screen but I can't figure out how to get them to go out. Can't believe I'm having all this trouble just to change to a different computer.

Sounds like you need to change the active state of your limits, either that or the address of the parallel port is different.

Since my last post I've learned this-- Ports & Pins>Input sigs>Active Low:  if all checked (green) I get persistent estop when cnc power is on. If all x'd (red) I get persistent estop when cnc power is off. Maybe that will suggest something to you. The parallel port thing sounds interesting. What can I do about it?

Look in device manager and Ports and then LPT and  right click then properties then resources, first 4 digits are the address, that is assuming the computer has an onboard port. If its a PCI port then you will have to look at the address of that and it may be LPT1 or may be 2 or 3 or...

And another thing...

It should also be noted that Mach 3 was working fine on this computer before I connected it to my CNC.

yes but thats because the limits are being seen activated so Mach will not let you do anything.
Do you have limit switches on the machine?

on Intel(R) 82801EB LPC Interface Controlle   Are these the address?   Yes I have limit switches and they are all untripped as I deal with this.

This is what you are looking for, well something like that, could be different address or LPT port.
