Using Isel CNC Controller C 142-4 with Mach3 ??
« on: September 19, 2007, 07:42:51 AM »
Hey!

I have a school project to modify a glueing robot to be a wood miller. The glue robot is using Isel's CNC Controller C 142-4 to operate the step motors. I wonder if I can just plug in my laptop with mach3 software to the controller by using RS232-port. Is mach3 able to control the robot  or do I have to use printer port?

You will need to interface the Stepper drives to the P Port and I would recommend getting a break outboard as well.

Thanks

What breakout board you suggest?

I just noticed that the Isel C 142-4 controller includes 8 opto-isolated signal input so maybe no need for a breakout board (http://www.iselautomation.de/productdb/download.php?ID=2791). The controller only has an RS 232C port, will this be an problem for using mach3?

Do you know the pinout for the cable? if it is all step and direction lines you "could" get it to work... BUT for $114.00 each you can get new drives and make the machine a better machine...

PMDX CNC4PC CNCbuilding blocks.... pick any ... have a look on the web

thanks

Hi Behnk
I'm just doing this. I've sucsessfully moved the motors with the Pulse step pins on the back of the drivers (just soldered wires on the back of the AZ8061/1 board.
I am using a cheap chineese 5ax Mach3 board ant it runs fine.
I just need to route the limit switches now. It's a simple setup.

Page 26 hase the driver pins. Just draw wires from the Clock (CLK),Direction and Motor GND to your BOB.

Good Luck

Hi !
Thank you for all the informations. I'm going to retrofit a CNC Charlyrobot to use MACH3.
I'm looking for the appropriate drivers and any useful information as I have few competences in that field.

Johanna.

Mach3 won't drive a robot
