ISEL 3020 Conversion
« on: June 18, 2018, 01:47:20 PM »
I am fairly new to the build your own controller field.. I am converting a ISEL 3020 to Mach3 and I have the X and Y running but am unsure on how to calculate the microstepping and the section for motor tuning (Steps per, velocity, Acceleration, and Pulse). Is there a formula to use to calculate these?

The ISEL 3020 has  these motors installed.

I installed these drivers and this BoB.

Thanks for any advice..

With microstepping it is usual to select 1/8 if your machine parts and workings are going to be in Imperial units and 1/10 if it is going to be in Metric units.

Here is a calculator which will help you calculate the Steps per Unit for each axis; http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=16315.0;attach=23771

Velocity and acceleration are a ‘trial and error’ thing…
Increase Velocity in steps until an axis regularly stalls (squealing noise) then reduce it by 30% saving the changes as you go. Acceleration is set in a similar manner. Then they are both finely adjusted for optimum performance.
