motor config problem with mach4 + Hicon
« on: February 26, 2017, 06:18:29 PM »
Mach4 build 4.2.0.3233
HiCON Integra 7766
HiCON Plug-in 2.01.47
Windows 10 pro/ dell optiplex 7010

Hello, first post for help with my mill build.
After install and setup of both program and plug-in, setting mapping and motors to:
X-0 = motor-0
Y-1 = motor-1
Z-2 = motor-2
B-4 = motor-4
Checked Boxes in motor config, set motor indexs and settings in HiCON.
Nothing I have tried will allow me to set steps and config in Mach4 motor config, the first 5 boxes are grayed out on every motor.
Any suggestions for what I'm missing?
Set-up a new profile with mach 6 axis and reconfigured everything, no change.

Thank,
Steve

Hello Steve,

I would recommend starting with this profile.

Hi Marc,
That profile matched the original mill3 I setup, still grayed out, but I was able to solve the problem by turning off everything I could
in Windows 10, rebooting and after that the motors were able to be selected.

Next question, are the step and direction outputs TTL 5v input compatible?

Hello Steve,

Yes, the step-direction outputs on the Integra are 5V/TTL.

Dominique,
Before I make the step/dir cable connections, Just let me confirm that in single ended sourcing outputs
and inputs to my driver, I would jumper the step- to dir-(on controller), send dir- to com(0v) on the driver, send dir+
to dir+ and step+ to step+, does that sound good?

Hi Steve,

Referring to your question, you only need to connect the +SP/+DR or -SP/-DR for single ended connection. Do not connect the step or dir outputs to power pins(0v,5v).
