J-code problems
« on: December 05, 2016, 08:16:29 AM »
Hello mach3 users
I'm new in the cnc, mach3 game so if I ask stupid questions ...forgive me. I build a cnc router and i'm running mach3  with a DDCMV5 interface and a laptop with XP windows. The setup works fine when it comes to X,Y and Z motions. I did a couple of test files i found and as I said they work great ....but .... then I tried to run a Aztec calendar which has J-code (and I believe that has something to do with circles and arc's) and that's when things go wild. It starts of normal but when it hit's a j-code my router keeps running 20+ times around the same circle...not cool... does anybody know what may be the cause?
Thanks for any help....Marc

Hi Marc,

That sounds like the dreaded crop circles - Go into Config. / General Config. and change the IJ Mode (then regenerate the toolpath to obtain the correct display).
Ideally you Gcode file should contain a G90.1 or G91.1 (as appropriate).

PEACE
