Wrong Direction Sending G-Gode, Jogging and homing works fine
« on: January 23, 2015, 08:56:44 PM »
Hi Guys,

I am nearly finished with my CNC-Mill and now got A Problem.

I'm using a pokeys 57E  with
Firmware 3.1.17
and Mach3 Version  R3.043.066

I was able to get everything started and Jogging and Homing works fine.

My X-Axis counts positive when jogging from left to right,
My Y-Axis counts positiv when jogging from front to back and
My Z-Axis counts negative when jogging from up to down.

When I send G0 X100 everything is perfect.
BUT, when I do the same with Y and Z axis, they want to go in the wrong direction.
As I'm using Pokeys I'm not allowed to change anything in Ports and Pins and MotorOutput.

I had to check reverse to Y and Z axis under Config...Motor Home/Softlimits to get the right counting wehn jogging.
I had to check Home neg. for Z axis. (see attached pic)

My scale right to the X Y Z axis says +1

Why is Mach 3 Jogging and counting everything correctly but moves the Y and Z axis in the opposite direction then g gode should move them?

Where is my fault?

Thanks for your help,

cheers Lukas

Okay I figured out the Problem with the Y-Axis.

I Got A steady X-Axis on wich the Z-Axis is adapted and A moving Table for Y-Axis.

When I want to move the drill relativ to the workpiece in positive Y the Table has to move towards me.

Okay Now X and Y work fine....but Z not yet...
It doesnt seem to matter if i change axis direction and homing direction...

Any help?

cheers Lukas

Hi, Lukas

I would suggest you to upgrade to 3.1.47 firmware first (the latest available).

Regarding the axis inversion - use the Motor Outputs settings (in Ports & Pins dialog) to toggle the Dir LowActive fields.  Although port and pins fields have no meaning for PoKeys devices, 'Dir LowActive' field still does have.

Next Problem,

calibrating my machine...
setting steps per mm and backlash...

actually my x y and z axis should go by 640 steps /mm

I started with the X axis and did like 100 times the same stuff... homing the machine, moving it towarts the dial indicator (its axis is quite parallel to the X axis)
write down digits move another 5mm write down digits and go back to the position to get the backlash...

MY PROBLEM: in Motor Tuning I can not set steps per mm as I want to cause else my motor wont move properly or not a bit...

The strange thing is 639.4 works 639.5 as well 639.6 doesn't and so on... Mach3 seems to be picky about the digits, which makes no sense to me...

When I do the procedure with the settings screen and "Set steps per Unit", Mach suggests me 638.3233533 and asks me if I want to store this value.
After I stored it, the motor doesnt move.

What am I doing wrong?

Cheers

Unfortunately, this looks to be Mach3 issue.

Has anyone had this issue and could advise some tricks?

Does Pokeys Plugin or Pokeys itself support backlash settings in Mach3?

Is anyone able to set steps per mm with let's say 4 digits?
If Yes, what mach version are you using?

Hi,

Sometimes xml file can be corrupted and put us in unknown situation. You can clone and start configuring from fresh Mach3Mill.xml again.

640 step per unit should be correct, not a fraction number.
