Tool Change without M6 command
« on: April 06, 2014, 12:21:26 AM »
Hi All

i'm using ColiCAM to create g-Code. All works fine except the tool change. I want to do  manual tool changes but unfortunately ColiCAM does not write any M6 commands to the g-code file.
Only the tool select commands T1...x  are written.

is there a way to force Mach3 to perform the Tool change on the T1 ... x  commands?

Thanks for your help

Ask ColiCam to write a post processor for you so the proper tool change commands and tool designation can be written properly for Mach3.

In lathe mode Mach3 will change tool on a Tnnnn command e.g. T0101 for tool 1 offset 1

Another option is to program an M5 and M1 command where you want the tool change...on the same line as the M1 stop, add for example  (Change to tool #2 Ext threading) ..So It will tell you to change to the appropriate tool on bottom of screen..so when the machine stops, just set the active tool to whatever is necessary...Hope this makes sense

If you want i can write you a standalone software that will make any modification you want on your Gcode (in exchange of a small donation) :)
