Help changing TEXT from Autocad to mach3
« on: April 04, 2014, 10:37:30 PM »
Hi, like the tittle say. I need help to transfer Text from autocad to mach3. I did it before  last year but  I havent use it anymore and now that I need it I forgot how .
I have Autocad 2005 LT. It doesnt have the right tools to make the easy way.So by searching on line last year I found out how to do it and change the text to the right format to be lines and arcs. I only remember half of it.
After making the text in Autocad I need to save it as DXF then I have to export it as WMF  and save it, but I dont remember if thats the right steps or what to do after that.
I been trying like that but I dont get the text to become lines and arcs so I know I missing something.I just cant remember how.I been looking all over on line again but I cant find it any more.I know people were explaining it  in some forums.
If somebody know of remember how its done thank you for you help.
I know there are some free programs to do the same  but that was easier for me and it works perfect.

Thank you in advance.

In regular AutoCAD, you can explode text with the Express Tools, which is the easy way.
However, that won't work in LT.

From what you're saying, it sounds like you just need to use wmfout.
What CAM are you using that can import .wmf files? Or are you converting the .wmf files in something else to .dxf?

Hi Gerry thank you for the reply. I been thinking for couple days now how I did it. As far I can remember what I did was like I said.
First save the drawing as DXF file then I export it and save it as WMF after that I dont remember, but now that you mention  I think  after I save it I have to import it back to Autocad and they become DXF or something  like that and when Im done the text its lines and arcs.
I think it was this forum I read how people were doing it cause they have the same problem as me  with Autocad LT.
I keep looking and trying to see if I rmember how I did it, and see if some body here knos how its done.

I just tested it. You're correct, except you don't need to save as .dxf.

Create your text, and then use the WMFOUT command. Then import it back with WMFIN or Insert > Windows Metafile.
After you import it, it'll be a block. Explode the block, and the text is now poylines.
