Author Topic: Program writen with windows 7, won't laod on XP machine. Help!  (Read 6483 times)

My indoor computer runs Windows 7. I used Via-Cad 6 to draw my part and save as a DXF R-12 file. I open the same DXF file in LazyCam and edit it. I then post it to Mach 3. It opens in Mach 3 fine. I test run in Mach 3. It works fine. Now how do I get this g-code program from my indoor computer, that is running Windows 7, to my shop computer that is running XP?  I tried using a thumb drive to transfer the program, but the shop computer doesn't recognize it. I know I need to save or convert it to some common format. Would some show me how to do that?
Thank you very much, I am a little computer slow, and I need some computer love here.

What do you mean it doesnt recognise it? If its simply when you try to open the code it is not visible for you to choose then use the file type box and set it to All Files.
Also best to transfer it to your hard drive rather to run direct from the thumb drive.

I am so confused. How would you load a program from a home computer to the shop computer? I'll try to follow instructions.

Ok really need to know if your problem is as I mentioned above, ie you are not seeing the file on your thimb drive.
Anyway to transfer the file you would simply drag from the thumb drive to a loaction on your machines computer then open the file in Mach from that location.

The file transfers from the thumb drive OK, but when I open it , it is not readable. It looks like Chinese.

I would need you to attach the file rather than a ascreenshot.

I would be sure that you re-format the USB memory stick in FAT32, and then try again.

Sounds like it is corrupt.
