Full Circle vs quadrants
« on: March 01, 2013, 11:45:40 AM »
I read in the Mach 3 manual, and elsewhere that using circular interpolation (G3)  with a full 360 degrees (or even 180) is very bad.  But I seem to see constant examples of folks doing it - some very experienced folks.

Is this business of doing a quadrant at a time just a legacy limitation, and is now OK?  Or is it still a bad idea?  or is it controller dependent?   It is a lot easier to program one block to do it, but I don't want to invite trouble ...

IF you use the  IJ method for arcs then full circles are fine .

IF you use the R arc method then you should use half or quadrant based circles.
