Need code for Robotics team robot pic included
« on: January 07, 2013, 07:27:44 PM »
This will be engraved in Plexiglas on each side of the robot (cnc machine in harbor freight x2 clone)   Mach 3 software

Plexiglas is 3/8 inch thick

LED lights will be added around the edge to make it light up.

if the x can be around 3.5 to 3.75 inch's for the width of the guy.

Thanks,  I just built the machine around Christmas time and still learning.

That is an AWFULLY small picture to get any detail off of.

That said here is a Mach3 Gcode file of the pic.

Paul,
Hope the team does well in the competition and they have fun.

Ya-Nvr-No can you post the gcode?

BTW folks, the robotics teams provide a great way to introduce young folks to so manny things .
Some of these kids end up showing some real talents and aquire new interests. One local team here
has a gal who does all the welding on the robot. Another member is a cracker jack programmer, one
ended up building a cnc machine.
There is a time limit on when they start and finish their robot.
You may have one near you.......thus sharing your knowledge, talents and facilities is a great way to experience a large reward.

Sorry never created a post as of yet.
But, if and I do I'll probably change the size and do a 3d relief and wrap it around a half log.  I thought the image was very cute.
Terry (TP) provided a fine trace cutout.
Good Luck Kids & Happy New Year

Ya-Nvr-No, Do you have a large copy of the artwork in say Jpeg or BMG OR BEST OF all a vector image ? What I did was from a very very small image not great for detail.

We want him to have the best (;-)

OK here is the code rotated.

I started with teh very small image and opened in window Photo gallery.  It fits the small image to a larger size for viewing. I then did a PrintScreen and brought it into PAINT. Cleaned up the noise a bit and saved .

Then open in Inkscape and do a Image trace then reduced nodes and saved as a DXF.

Then open in SheetCam ( The best sheet goods CAM) and setup for the engrave operation and saved out as Gcode file.

You can use the new filw OR you could simple rotate your old file in MAch3 with a G68 call OR into -90 in the corrd rotation box.
