New to cnc and looking for help.
« on: August 02, 2012, 03:57:55 AM »
New to G Code and would like to ask if someone could convert a file for me for Mach 3

It is for an eye patch. I am blind in my right eye and wanted to do one.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is this what your looking for?
Seems to me it should be somewhat convex in shape, unless you plan on shaping it after you cut it out.
Before I could create the code I'd need to know what tools you have available that would cut the slots and the outside shape.

Hello

Yes that looks good. as for the tool bit, I have a few single flute spirial bits but I am not sure yet what bit will do the best as I haven't done anything in aluminum.

I was just gonna shape it after the cut so I could cut it out of flat stock.

Thanks
Jim

Either way I still need some cutter sizes to create the profile path cuts

May i suggest that you have a look in Members Doc's, End Mill Speeds and Feeds as to an approx spindle speed and feed that you will cut the
Al at. The gummy soft Al can be hard on small end mills.......just don't want you breaking them.   ;)You may want to say how thick your stock will be also.
