I get the material from a local plastic supplier, I forgot what the brand or type material it is , but it is used a lot for dash plates on boats . It is not starboard its harder than starboard and a little softer than acylic. From what I understand it is a crosss between the 2. the material that I usually get are drops from the local suppier so it did not have the label on it.It is nice material to cut. I used to use starboard for a lot of bigger dashes until I found this from the supplier..Next trip to the supplier I am going to get the braand name , I have had a few people ask what it is.
I usually cut it at 60 IPM at 10000 RPM..

For it worth, moulded dash boards are usually ABS resin. Might well be that your plates are also ABS. It also machines well.

It is ABS and come in a few colors and machines great , Here is a few pictures of some other dashes that I did for a 65 footer..
Had to do a little creative ingeneering to get LED lighting in it though..The top hole is for radar unit and the lower hole is for a VHF radio..
ALso I have a few pics of a name plate for my Neice to put on her Desk..
Hope you like these.
