LazyCam & Mach3 HELP
« on: January 30, 2009, 10:35:58 AM »
Hi everyone
I have a few ????
1) Why does LazyCam not accept all formats of dfx ?
2) Why is it that when i bring in a dfx into LazyCam set all the chain orders the pockets ect... and then bring it into Mach3 but to only show me a small portion of the drawing ?
3) Is there anymore tutorials on LazyCam other than the two on the website ?

So that you know what the drawing is i will attache it here.
Thank you all

Mef,
Answers to your questions:
1.This will not give a direct answer but will provide you with insight to the problem.
It is written for LazyTurn but applies in general.

http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=10091.0;attach=12396

2. You may be limited as the Pro versions which requires a license has additional features.

3.Just the videos on milling and the tutorial's which were written for turning. You can also read thru the threads
  on LazyCam.

Mef,

I had a look at your dxf in LazyCam and the upper radius does not look good and you had disconnected lines.

These must be saved in 11/12 ASCII AutoCad type files to be used in LazyCam.

I redid this one for you so give it a try and I'm also including the LCam file for you as well.

As for why only partial shows in Mach 3, I'm guessing you don't have this registered or if you're pocketing or offsetting, you'll need to buy the Pro version.

Sounds like it was not to scale when drawn?

Hi Budman

nope i just did it about an hour ago from Autocad to Lazycam to Mach3 and even after the cut i came back to Autocad to double check the dimensions and they were all ok.

Here is another  ???
Is the cut on the inside of the line or outside the line when looking at it in Lazycam ?

It sounds as if you have not setup any tools in Lazycam and specified any offsets and if you have not purchased the Pro version, you will not get these options.

Have you watched any of the tutorial videos in the video area of Mach 3 website?

Even though some of the screens may not look the same, you get the idea of what's going a lot more.

Hi Budman

Yes i do have the tools setup
Yes i have watched the videos
I just did a test with a 1/8" marker and after it was drawn the dimensions are ok
I then changed the tool to a 1/4" and did the same test and the whole thing is off by 1/4" bigger
Now maybe with the offset on the outside will give me the exact dimensions well wont know that till i get the registered version of Lazycam Pro.

I think you got it, then  :)

Or maybe you can just set up a "fake" cutter size diameter to make it think it's cutting bigger?
